Brittany Murphy

DVDs out Today

9 - A weird movie about puppets that are alive when everyone in the world is dead. Oh and there are weird robots too to try to kill them. Yeah...

The Perfect Getaway - I never got the chance to see this movie, but I really wanted to. Could it be because I love Steve Zahn? Or Milla Jovovich? Or Timothy Olyphant? Perhaps all three...

Jennifer's Body - I will stand by this movie as being awesome. I don't care what anyone says (I didn't look at the reviews, but half the time they're horrible). Diablo Cody is an amazing writer! Amanda Seyfried is awesome and I even enjoyed Megan Fox a little (a very little). The special effects were pretty cool. What's better than seeing Megan Fox turn into a demon? Lots of things, actually, but that's beside the point.

Paranormal Activity - Didn't see it and I never will. Never, Diana.

Sad to See You Go Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Uptown Girls. I have always loved this movie despite its silly premise. The ending always gets me. It's a heart-warming story all-around.

Movies to see:
The Perfect Getaway, Jennifer's Body, Uptown Girls.

Trailers of the post: Suspense/Horror/Thriller

Across the Hall. It looks a little too creepy for me, but the dudes seem pretty good looking. I think it has already been released in some cities, though. Good luck finding it.

Case 39. Renee Zellweger tries to save some possessed kid or something. From what I can see from the trailers, it's a "no go" for me, but I'm sure my dad'll wanna see it.

Frozen. My man Shawn Ashmore gets stuck in the frozen wilderness with Kevin Zegers (that punk) and some new chick. This reminds me a lot of Phonebooth where the entire film will be shot with one setting. Boring. And kind of disgusting.

Name 7 Brittany Murphy:
Don’t Say a Word, Clueless, Uptown Girls, Sin City, Little Black Book, Cherry Falls, 8 Mile.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Brittany Murphy was in Uptown Girls with Dakota Fanning who was in Trapped with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Quote Quiz #127 and #128 winners:
Katie with Sugar & Spice and Kristina with Angel Eyes! Way to go!

QQ #129: name this Brittany Murphy movie:
"All the love in the world can't be gone. All the need to be loved can't be wrong."

a. Neverwas
b. Uptown Girls
c. Happy Feet
d. Riding in Cars with Boys

James Marsden and Jennifer Lopez

Again, no excuse for my delay. I could've written this far earlier, but I was having too much fun doing nothing. So, again, I will give you a double post. Just because they're fun.

DVDs out Tuesday (the 22nd)

(500) Days of Summer - I'm not sure why they put the 500 in parenthesis, but I am sure that this movie was great! I highly suggest it. And I highly love Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel.

All About Steve - While a little ridiculous, I would say this is still a funny movie and worth watching once. If only for Bradley Cooper.

District 9 - I saw it, it was good, but I don't think I would see it again. But definitely worth seeing once.

Extract - I didn't get to see this movie, but I'm moving it to the top of my queue right now!

Movies out on Friday (Christmas)

Nine - Looks pretty much amazing. I can't wait to see it.

The Young Victoria - I really like Emily Blunt (even though she has stolen away John Krasinski from the world), and this looks like a pretty good period piece. I don't say that lightly, most period pieces are either boring or star Keira Knightley.

It's Complicated - Alec Baldwin is a huge creeper, but I love Meryl Streep and John Krasinski and it just looks funny.

Sherlock Holmes - !!!

Never Gets the Girl Goodies and Too Much Woman to Handle Goodies

Underrated movies of the post:
Interstate 60. By far one of the most interesting and funny movies I've discovered by accident. It's pretty great. Gary Oldman is half Leprechaun and half Native American Witch Doctor. You do the math.
The Cell. It's creepy beyond words, but I really liked it. Definitely one to see.

Movies to see:
Everything listed above. They're all great.

Trailers of the post: Comedy Galore.

Death At A Funeral. I really loved the British version of this movie, but this one looks just as great. And I love that it's the same guy playing the dad's boyfriend. And who doesn't wanna see James Marsden naked, on a roof, high on drugs? I know I do!

The Back-Up Plan. Is it just me or that guy really, really good looking? Despite them being all a bit dumb, I really enjoy J.Lo romantic comedies regardless.

Cop Out. That's my man! Bruce Willis is a sexy beast. Comedy, action, drama, whatever. He can do it all!

Hot Tub Time Machine. I was planning on seeing this just because of the title, but then I saw the trailer and now I'm definitely going to. I love John Cusack!

Name 7 James Marsden:
27 Dresses, X-Men, Hairspray, Gossip, Disturbing Behavior, Enchanted, Sex Drive.

Name 7 Jennifer Lopez:
Wedding Planner, Monster in Law, Jersey Girl, Enough, Angel Eyes, Gigli, Blood and Wine.

Kevin Bacon Game:

Gwyneth Paltrow and Liam Neeson

I have no excuse for my absence. School's out, work's not in the way, family's no crazier than usual. Just no excuse. To make up for it and my pending absence on Tuesday, I give you a double post.

DVDs out Tuesday (the 15th)

The Hangover (!!!!) - Hands-down winner of the Best Comedy of 2009. I dare you to find a better one. It would be Best Movie of 2009 if Star Trek hadn't been so freaking awesome.

Inglourious Basterds - An equally awesome movie. The writing walked the thin line between disturbing and funny but leaned more to the funny side. Plus, the blood and gore was great.

Taking Woodstock - I haven't seen it...yet. And that's a big yet. I plan on moving it to the top of my queue right now, in fact.

Movies out Friday (the 18th)

Up in the Air - I'm not a huge fan of George Clooney, but this movie has the potential to be interesting. I've been on a Dark Comedy kick lately...

Avatar - I'm not going to lie, giant blue people are pretty cool. But even more cool? Sam Worthington and Giovanni Ribisi. Babes.

Did You Hear About the Morgans? - "I did! Did you?" - Sarah Jessica Parker, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Classic. Cheesy, but classic. I wanna see it, I don't care.

Seriously? Apple? Goodies and Simply Bad-ass Goodies

Underrated movies of the post:
View From the Top. A hilarious comedy about being a flight attendant. Really good and worth watching. I assure you.
Star Wars Episode I. While no where near being as awesome as the originals, this one wasn't as bad as Episodes II and III. Mostly because Hayden Christensen wasn't in it.

Movies to see:
The Hangover, Inglourious Basterds, Taking Woodstock, Up in the Air, Avatar, Did You Hear About the Morgans? and View from the Top.

Trailers of the post: Awesome-ness.

Iron Man 2. Holy jeez!

Clash of the Titans. Are you f-ing kidding me?! This is going to be beautiful!

Shrek Forever After. The news just keeps getting better and better!

The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Color me intrigued. Another movie where Nicolas Cage shows little to no emotion? I'm shocked beyond words.

Name 7 Gwyneth Paltrow:
Bounce, Iron Man, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Running with Scissors, View From the Top, Royal Tenenbaums, Shakespeare in Love.

Name 7 Liam Neeson:
Schindler’s List, Les Miserables, Star Wars 1, Batman Begins, Love Actually, Shining Through, Taken.

Salma Hayek

DVDs out Tuesday

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - Not one of the best movies and the director definitely took some liberties (i.e. Weasley house on fire? Okay...), but I am going to buy it because I have the other five.

Public Enemies - Johnny Depp only proves yet again that he can be sexy in whatever role he plays. I really enjoyed the acting from all of the characters and the story was very interesting (I never knew John Dillinger's story). Everything was done very well and I liked this movie a lot.

Julie & Julia - I never got the chance to see this movie but I do intend on Netflix-ing it right away. I've heard some great reviews from friends and family (the only critics that matter).

Movies out Friday

The Princess and the Frog - Not that I don't love all of the Disney/Pixar movies that have come out in the last decade, I'm pretty pumped for another Classic-esque Disney movie. I do have some questions, though. A princess in New Orleans? Okay...

Invictus - I don't really care for Matt Damon, but I do wanna see this movie. It look very interesting and I've been on a docu-drama kick lately.

Curvaceous Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Fools Rush In. Alright, so the main reason I love this movie is because it also stars Matthew Perry, but I can honestly say that this is my favorite Salma Hayek movie. I haven't seen much of her other stuff and the stuff I have seen just doesn't compare to Matthew Perry. Although, she was pretty great in Dogma.

Movies to see:
Harry Potter 6, Public Enemies, Julie & Julia, The Princess and the Frog, Invictus, and Fools Rush In. So...everything pretty much.

Trailers of the post: Comedy.

Grown Ups. Who doesn't love older people reminiscing about when they were younger and how messed up their lives are now? I know I do!

Date Night. Tina Fey + Steve Carell = Crazy Hilarious.

Name 7 Salma Hayek:
Across the Universe, Bandidas, Dogma, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Fools Rush In, Wild Wild West, Traffic.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Salma Hayek was in Dogma with Matt Damon who was in Saving Private Ryan with Tom Hanks who was in Apollo 13 with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.

Quote Quiz #123 winner:
Molly with National Treasure 2! I've seen that movie a billion times and it never gets old. Ever.

QQ #124: name this Salma Hayek movie:
"You of anyone should know that tits don't make a woman."

a. Fools Rush In
b. Bandidas
c. Dogma
d. Wild Wild West

Nicolas Cage, Part 2

DVDs out Tuesday

Night at the Museum 2 - Just as entertaining as the first and worth seeing at least once. If you loved the first then you'll love this one too.

Paper Heart - This one's on my Netflix queue already. I love Michael Cera and that Charlyne Yi girl is funny in all of her awkwardness.

Terminator: Salvation - The special effects, explosions, and action were great and everything else was pretty dumb. What was great was all the promotions and commercials advertising Christian Bale, but he was hardly in it. It basically starred Sam Worthington and Anton Yelchin which, in my opinion, is far better than watching Christian Bale scream for two hours.

Movies out Friday

Armored - Looks pretty dumb. I might have seen it if I knew Milo Ventimiglia had a bigger part. But apparently he's shot in the beginning and half-dead throughout. That's not enough to negate Matt Dillon being a douche.

Brothers - Extremely reminiscent of Pearl Harbor (one guy "dies" and his friend/brother bangs his girlfriend/widow). That and there's the one guy we dislike (Affleck/Maguire) and the other that's super hot (Hartnett/Gyllenhaal) and the babe they fight over (Beckinsale/Portman). I'll probably see it.

Everybody's Fine - This movie looks cute and I'll probably go and see it. I really like all the people in it and it's always funny to watch Robert DeNiro after seeing all of the impressions people do of him.

Transylmania - This looks dumb. Super dumb.

Stoic Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
The Rock. Great, great movie! Action-packed and thrilling and full of so many twists and turns you won't know which way is up!

Movies to see:
Paper Heart, Night at the Museum 2, Brothers, Everybody's Fine, and The Rock.

Trailers of the post: Getting Cage-y.

Season of the Witch. Looks super creepy. Not sure yet if it's fictional enough for me to go see. It is a scary movie after all.

Kick-Ass. I may see it based just on the title.

Name 7 Nicolas Cage:
The Ant Bully, Raising Arizona, Family Man, The Rock, National Treasure, World Trade Center, Knowing.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Nicolas Cage was in Knowing with Rose Byrne who was in Troy with Brad Pitt who was in Sleepers with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.

Quote Quiz #122 winner:
Kristina takes it again with Six Days, Seven Nights.

QQ #123: Name this Nic Cage movie:
"Well, I get lucky a lot..."

a. Matchstick Men
b. National Treasure 2
c. Family Man
d. The Rock

Harrison Ford and a Turkey Day Special

DVDs out Tuesday

Angels & Demons - I really enjoyed this book over Da Vinci Code, but I think the movies are both on equal level of awesome. I love puzzles and adventures. Tom Hanks' hair, though, is ridiculous. Someone needs to get that man a haircut.

Four Christmases - This was a great movie and very funny. It makes me feel better about my insane family which is the point, I think. So a feel good movie all around.

Funny People - I know that critics say this is a great movie, and I think that the acting was terrific, but I didn't care much for it. It was funny at times and crazy dramatic at others. I guess you have to have some sort of comedy stand-up background to enjoy it fully.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - Not one of my favorite Disney movies so I'm not so sure if I want to buy it. I mean, everyone should collect all the classic Disney movies for your children and such, but I really don't know that movie...

Movies out Today (in theaters)

Ninja Assassin - This movie looks badass! I can't wait to see it. It has that hot Asian guy from Speed Racer, too, he looks pretty ripped! I'm pumped.

Old Dogs - I've seen so many advertisements for this movie that I almost don't want to see it anymore. It looks funny and I have a huge crush on Seth Green, but as of right now I'm already sick of it.

Fantastic Mr. Fox - I'm not so sure about this one. It looks interesting, but I'm not going to run out to see it.

Jones-ing for some goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Air Force One. One of the greatest action movies. Ever. The acting is superb and H. Ford is a beast! And who doesn't love Gary Oldman?

Movies to see:
Angels & Demons, Four Christmases, Ninja Assassin, Old Dogs, and Air Force One.

Trailers of the post: Drama-tastic!

Extraordinary Measures. Are you crying already? I know I am!

The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond. Chris Evans! Looks like an epic love story, but who knows. Movies are all about making you think one thing and then turning out to be something completely different.

Name 7 Harrison Ford:
Air Force One, Indiana Jones 1, Star Wars 4, Clear and Present Danger, The Fugitive, Firewall, Sabrina.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Harrison Ford was in Star Wars with Carrie Fisher who was in When Harry Met Sally with Meg Ryan who was in In the Cut with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.

Quote Quiz #121 winner:
Kristina is back in the game with Baby Mama.

QQ #122: name this Harrison Ford movie:
"You know how a woman gets a man excited? She shows up. That's it. We're guys, we're easy."

a. Six Days, Seven Nights
b. Hollywood Homicide
c. American Graffiti
d. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

Greg Kinnear

Movies out Friday

Precious - I read the book that this movie is based on and it is very moving. Caution, though, because if the movie is anything like the book there are probably some very disturbing scenes. I mean, the premise is that this girl is pregnant with her second child by her father. If that doesn't scream disturbing I don't know what does.

The Messenger - I love Ben Foster and Woody Harrelson is popping up in everything lately. I can't help finding him hilarious even though this movie doesn't look funny at all. Did I mention I love Ben Foster?

The Blind Side - The trailer for this movie is pretty powerful in itself so I'm sure the movie will knock my socks off. I love Sandra Bullock and it looks like she should be nominated for an Oscar just by what I've seen in the trailer. That's how badass she is.

Planet 51 - It actually looks pretty cute and there are a lot of A Class celebs that loaned their voices to it. That's my favorite part of cartoon movies is figuring out who is the voice. Try it next time you're tricked into seeing a cartoon movie with a small child. It passes the time nicely.

Twilight Saga: New Moon - Really? Could the title be any longer? Would the crazy "Twi-hards" not know that a movie with "New Moon" as the title was a part of the Twilight Saga? And when did it become a "saga"? (If that's how cynical I am about the title of the freaking movie, imagine how I feel about the whole thing. haha)

Feel Good Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
The Matador. This is actually a pretty great movie and you never know what's going to happen next. Kinnear gives a stand-up performance and who doesn't love Pierce Brosnan? It's very funny, kinda sad, and all around good.

Movies to see:
Precious, The Messenger, The Blind Side, Planet 51, New Moon, and The Matador.

Trailers of the post: Curse you Nicolas Sparks for writing books that are turned into movies that suck you in and then make you cry. Not cool, man. Not cool.

The Last Song. Miley Cyrus in a movie where there's music involved? Crazy. Also, playing a misunderstood, moody teenager who doesn't get along with her parents? Cliche. But hey, we all know that we'll see it and that dude she falls for is pretty bangin'.

Dear John. Ten bucks says that Channing Tatum dies and then she finds out and then one more letter comes after he's already dead. Just in case you weren't already sobbing, Sparks twists the knife a little. Jerk.

Name 7 Greg Kinnear:
Mystery Men, Stuck On You, As Good As It Gets, You’ve Got Mail, Invincible, Sabrina, Flash of Genius.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Greg Kinnear was in As Good As It Gets with Jack Nicholson who was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Quote Quiz #120 winner:
Molly with History of Violence. Great, yet a little disturbing, film. But I was pleased with the ending and that's all that really matters.

QQ Standings:
1. Molly 28.5
2. Katie 27
3. Kristina 16
4. Katrina 12
5. Diana 8
6. Janette 4
7. Beth 2
8. Michael 1
9. Justin 0

QQ #121: Name this Greg Kinnear movie:
"They call you bossy and controlling because you're a woman. But if you were a man doing the same stuff... you'd just be a dick."

a. As Good As It Gets
b. You've Got Mail
c. Someone Like You
d. Baby Mama

Maria Bello

DVDs out today

Bruno - No thank you.

My Sister's Keeper - Such a great movie. Of course, it'll make you cry. So watch yourself.

STAR TREK - !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I already bought mine!)

Utterly Awesome Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Jane Austen Book Club. I really enjoyed this film. Mostly because I enjoyed catching the clues referencing all of the Jane Austen books. Oh and the inner hopeless romantic in you will have a ball. Oh and Hugh Dancy!

Movies to see:
My Sister's Keeper, Star Trek, and Jane Austen Book Club.

Trailers of the post: Double the Bello, Double the Drama.

The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. Looks a little weird, but interesting. Definitely interesting.

The Yellow Handkerchief. Looks a little weird (a theme for Bello?), but not as interesting. Perhaps it's the Kristen Stewart Effect, in that, every time I see Kristen Stewart and her expressionless face I cringe.

Name 7 Maria Bello:
Mummy 3, Jane Austen Book Club, History of Violence, Coyote Ugly, World Trade Center, Flicka, Assault on Precinct 13.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Maria Bello was in Flicka with Alison Lohman who was in Where the Truth Lies with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

a. History of Violence
b. Flicka
c. Mummy 3
d. Thank You For Smoking

Alfred Molina

Movies out Today

2012 - John Cusack saves his family as the world falls apart around him. What's interesting about this movie is it's from the guy who did Independence Day so you know the special effects will be awesome!

Pirate Radio - Some weird movie about some dudes in England who broadcasted rock and roll from a boat. It has Phillip Seymour Hoffman and I'm not the biggest fan. I'm gonna wait til DVD.

Creeper Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Chocolat. Probably one of the few movies I've seen Alfred Molina in where he wasn't an evil character. He was kinda cute when he fell for that lady in the end. Sure, he had to be a little mean in the beginning, but some people are just destined to play mean characters. It can't be helped.

Movies to see:
2012 and Chocolat.

Trailers of the post: Action/Fantasy.

Prince of Persia. Jake Gyllenhaal is so fine! I know this movie is based off the video game and the video game is supposed to be serious and intense, but I like how they're making it funny too. Unless all the funny parts are in the trailer and everything else is boring...

Solomon Kane. Doesn't necessarily have hunky dudes in it, but I'm intrigued by the story and the action.

Name 7 Alfred Molina:
Maverick, Spiderman 2, Chocolat, Indiana Jones 1, Da Vinci Code, Nothing Like the Holidays, Pink Panther 2.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Alfred Molina was in The Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks who was in Apollo 13 with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Quote Quiz #118 winner:
Diana with Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story! I'm impressed with myself. It seems as though that one was a little more difficult than all the others. I'm thinking I'm going to start making them as hard as I can!

QQ #119: Name this Alfred Molina movie:
"Love should never be a secret. If you keep something as complicated as love stored up inside, it could make you sick."

a. Nothing Like the Holidays
b. Silk
c. Spiderman 2
d. Identity

Kristen Wiig

DVDs out Tuesday

The Accidental Husband - I'm pretty excited about this movie coming out. I don't know why it was never released in theaters (meaning it is probably pretty terrible) but I'm going to rent it and most likely love it. That's just how I roll when Jeffrey Dean Morgan is involved.

The Ugly Truth - This movie was pretty predictable, but wasn't as terrible as everyone made it out to be. I mean, it had its moments. The crude humor was legitimate because of Gerard Butler's character, too, so I don't think everyone should freak out about that. The only thing I do feel was a mistake was Katherine Heigl's character. She really needs to get away from the "bitchy, uptight chick who becomes free-spirited and lovable in the end" kind of characters (27 Dresses/Knocked Up). I'd say it was smart of her to stick with Grey's Anatomy if it means avoiding being type-cast for the girl everyone loves to hate.

Disney's Up - This movie made me laugh and cry the entire time. I've never cried more at a child's movie than with this one, so watch yourself. Although, it is definitely worth watching because the little Asian boy and the talking dogs. Priceless!

Double the "i", Double the Fun-ny

Underrated movie of the post:
Whip It! Seeing as most of the movies she has been in she was only on screen for a few minutes, I'm forced to pick this one. I haven't seen Extract yet and I'm sure she's amazing in that, but I can only go with what I know. Wiig shows a different side of her acting chops in this movie. Her humor was much more subtle with a snide comment every now and then. The main focus was how good of an actor she is outside the funny role. She slowed things down a bit with a serious, motherly side as she coached Ellen Page through life. All in all, I didn't think it was possible to love her even more, but now I can honestly respect her as a legitimate actress.

Movies to see:
The Accidental Husband, The Ugly Truth, Up, and Whip It!

Trailers of the post: Wiig all the way!

How to Train Your Dragon. Let's face it, dragon's are cool.

Despicable Me. Let's face it, cartoons are cool.

Name 7 Kristen Wiig:
Knocked Up, Meet Bill, Adventureland, Ghost Town, Ice Age 3, Extract, Whip It.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Kristen Wiig was in Ice Age 3 with Queen Latifah who was in Beauty Shop with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Quote Quiz #117 winner:
Kristina again with Hitman. She and Diana continue taking turns winning the QQs. Obviously Kristina has the 20 point advantage, but could Diana swing in as an upset? You'll have to wait and see!

QQ #118: Name this Kristen Wiig movie:
"I do believe in you. I just know you're gonna fail."

a. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
b. Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
c. Knocked Up
d. Semi-Pro

Timothy Olyphant

Movies out Friday

The Box - Ah ha ha, I said "box". But let's get serious. This movie looks creepy but in a vaguely interesting way. I was on the fence about seeing it, but I've decided to and I can tell you exactly what won me over in the end: James Marsden.

Disney's A Christmas Carol - I've never really been into the story and I'm pretty sick of all the adaptations (although, I will admit, this one looks to be pretty awesome). Not even Jim Carrey's voice and mannerisms could get me to go. I'm just happy that I won't have to see all the freaking commercials for it anymore!

The Fourth Kind - The only thing worse than a scary/freaky movie is when said movie is based on actual events. This makes it even more scary and even harder for me to contain my active imagination that has me believing that it might happen to me.

The Men Who Stare At Goats - I want to see this movie very badly. Not only does the title make me laugh, but the story itself looks pretty hilarious. And there is nothing I love more than when George Clooney plays a ridiculous character. Okay, there are tons of things I love more, but this one ain't too bad.

Beyond Sexy Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Catch and Release. I absolutely love this movie despite being completely dramatic and chick-flick-y. I can't even tell you why. I know it has something to do with Timothy Olyphant (duh) and Kevin Smith being the comic relief. Also, I really like the story of a woman who's fiance dies and then she finds out he has this whole other life and then she changes from the up-tight bitch to the care-free chick. Maybe. That might have something to do with it.

Movies to see:
Catch and Release, Men Who Stare At Goats, and The Box (haha).

Trailers of the post: Suspenseful.

The Crazies. Who doesn't wish that someday all the nice townspeople that live around you will turn into zombies? I know I do all the time!

Uncertainty. JGL!

Name 7 Timothy Olyphant:
Catch and Release, Dreamcatcher, Hitman, Girl Next Door, Die Hard 4, Meet Bill, Scream 2.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Timothy Olyphant was in Catch and Release with Juliette Lewis who was in Kalifornia with Brad Pitt who was in Sleepers with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.

Quote Quiz #116 winner:
Diana with Se7en! Such a great movie!
QQ #117: Name this Timothy Olyphant movie:
"Eat your sandwich I need to get some sleep."

a. Hitman
b. Dreamcatcher
c. A Perfect Getaway
d. Catch and Release

Post Script. I will definitely be attending Sir Kirkington's Extravaganza! Who could miss a party like that?

Morgan Freeman

DVDs out Tuesday

Aliens in the Attic - I wouldn't mind renting this one. I like Ashley Tisdale and that hot guy, Robert Hoffman (She's the Man, Step Up 2).

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra - Kinda stupid, but the action and special effects were pretty great. And that's all a girl can ask for. Oh and Channing Tatum and Joseph G.L. (before he gets all creepy at the end)

I Love You, Beth Cooper - I never got around to seeing this one, but I wouldn't mind getting it on Netflix. I think it looks kinda funny and I like Hayden Panettiere.

The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 - Again, never got around to seeing it in theaters, but I do plan on renting it. There are two roles I like John Travolta in: when he's playing a woman and when he's the bad guy. He is fantastic in both!

Star Collections - 4-packs of certain actors and the movies they were best in, I guess. I'll list them for you.
Clint Eastwood
Frank Sinatra
Gary Cooper
Jack Lemmon
Jodie Foster (no Nim's Island, I'm shocked)
Michelle Pfeiffer (no Stardust, I'm shocked without the sarcasm)
Mickey Rourke
Nicolas Cage
Reese Witherspoon (the first two are the Legally Blondes. Seriously? I mean, I know she's best known for them, but I would hardly count them as worthy of a star collection)
Robert Downey, Jr. (no Tropic Thunder. Lame)
Sean Connery
Susan Sarandon
Winona Ryder

Narrating Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Kiss the Girls. This is an all-around fantastic movie. Ashley Judd (a favorite) teams up with Morgan Freeman to catch the guy who kidnapped her and is holding hostage a bunch of other ladies who he plans to kill eventually. She's the only one who escapes (because she's a badass) and they hunt him while he hunts her. Creepy good!

Movies to see:
Aliens in the Attic, G.I. Joe, I Love You Beth Cooper, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, and Kiss the Girls. (None of the Star Collections seem that interesting, unfortunately. Now if they made one of Heath Ledger of JGL, then we'd be in business)

Trailers of the post: Docu-dramas

Invictus. Clint Eastwood directs this one and I have never liked a movie directed by him (that I've seen) so I'm a little wary. But it has Matt Damon in it so I'm sure Katrina will be harassing me to go see it.

Nowhere Boy. This is about John Lennon's life and the creation of The Beatles. I tend to stay far away from documentaries, but I enjoy certain docu-dramas and this one looks pretty good. Plus it has that cute kid from Love, Actually.

Name 7 Morgan Freeman:
March of the Penguins, Wanted, Lucky # Slevin, Kiss the Girls, Bruce Almighty, Gone Baby Gone, Batman Begins.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Morgan Freeman was in Bruce Almighty with Jennifer Aniston who was in Picture Perfect with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Quote Quiz #115 winner:
Kristina with Away We Go. She likes to win every other QQ, but it's a good strategy. She's sneaking up on first place!

"People don't want a hero, they want to eat cheeseburgers, play the lotto and watch television."

a. Batman Begins
b. Feast of Love
c. Wanted

Maggie Gyllenhaal

Movies out Thursday/Friday (kinda)

Michael Jackson's This Is It - I do love MJ's music, but I am very much against documentaries no matter what they're about.

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day - A much anticipated sequel that only some people get to see, I guess. Don't get me started...

Gentlemen Broncos - This movie just looks weird.

The Coolest Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Stranger Than Fiction. This movie is great and Maggie Gyllenhaal is great. Her character was was just as hilarious as all the others and she pulled it off nicely. I love her variety and how she is able to play a slightly crazy pastry chef in one movie and an uptight student in another. Her spectrum is so huge

Movies to see:
Boondock Saints II (if you are in one of the lucky states that has it) and Stranger Than Fiction.

Trailers of the post: Kiddies.

Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang. The title sounds a little fishy for a child's movie. It could very well double as a porno, but I liked the first one so I'll give this second one a shot.

The Spy Next Door. I love Jackie Chan!

Name 7 Maggie Gyllenhaal:
Dark Knight, Stranger Than Fiction, Sherry Baby, Donnie Darko, World Trade Center, Mona Lisa Smile, Away We Go.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Maggie Gyllenhaal was in Stranger Than Fiction with Queen Latifah who was in Beauty Shop with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps

Claire Danes

DVDs out Tuesday (Yesterday)

Ice Age 3 - As a huge fan of the previous Ice Ages, I have to say that this one lived up to it's predecessors. But really, who doesn't love Ice Age? Manny? Sid? Diego? Those possums? And, to cap it all off, there's an adorable baby mammoth at the end that you just wish wasn't a cartoon so you can take it home with you.

Orphan - That creepy movie about the little girl who's messed up in the head or something. Just the poster freaked me out so, needless to say, I didn't see it and I'm not planning to in the foreseeable future.

Amazing Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Romeo + Juliet. I don't care what anyone says, this movie is great. Being a avid literature fan and, simultaneously, hating Shakespeare, you can imagine the kind of crap I get for saying I love this movie. Granted, it is a little ridiculous. BUT it is loads better than some of the other R&Js I've been forced to watch in Junior High English. Besides, I could actually, kind of, maybe understand that ridiculous old windbag and whatever he was writing about. It just goes to show that Leonardo DiCaprio's hottness can traverse the boundaries of Shakespearean English (i.e. crazy words jumbled into barely understandable sentences).

Movies to see:
Ice Age 3 and Romeo + Juliet.

Trailers of the post: Comedies

Me and Orson Welles. Honestly, I don't want to see this one and, yes, it is because of Zac Efron. I just don't think his hottness can traverse the boundaries of stupid characters.

Serious Moonlight. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this movie. It has great actors, great characters, and a great story. Oh, and Justin Long. Love!

Name 7 Claire Danes:
Romeo + Juliet, Stardust, Family Stone, Terminator 3, Evening, Little Women, Les Miserables.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Claire Danes was in The Family Stone with Sarah Jessica Parker who was in Footloose with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Quote Quiz #113 winner:

a. The Family Stone
b. Stardust
c. It's All About Love
d. Evening

Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Sorry I wasn't around for Tuesday, but a 10 page essay was calling my name.

DVD out Tuesday

Transformers 2 - While this was an admittedly dumb movie, I am still going to buy it. Partly because I have the first and need to complete the collection and partly because I just enjoy movies with pointless explosions (good plot line optional).

Movies out Today

Amelia - I don't really care for Hilary Swank and we all know how this story ends...

Astro Boy - I'll probably wait until DVD...

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant - Now this one I'll probably go out to see because it looks interesting. I am, however, getting a little tired of all the Vampire movies/shows/books. We need a new fad, people!

Saw VI - No thanks.

Just My Type Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
There are too many to just pick one, so here's a list of great films that you NEED to see.
Brick
10 Things I Hate About You (duh)
The Lookout
Angels in the Outfield
500 Days of Summer

Movies to see:
All of the Underrated, Cirque Du Freak, and maybe Astro Boy and Amelia.

Trailers of the post: JGL.

Inception. Sure it's mainly about Leo DiCaprio, but JGL is why I would see it.

Women in Trouble. Again, sure it's about crazy women, but JGL is why I would see it. And even if he weren't in it, doesn't it look hilarious? And is it just me or does Josh Brolin look kinda hot with eye-liner?

Name 7 JGL:
Treasure Planet, Brick, 10 Things I Hate About You, Stop-Loss, The Lookout, Angels in the Outfield, Miracle at Saint Anna.

Kevin Bacon Game:
JGL was in 10 Things I Hate About You with Allison Janney who was in Hairspray with Queen Latifah who was in Beauty Shop with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.

Quote Quiz #112 winner:
Diana with Mr. Woodcock! I would have given a certain Mr. Lanham a courtesy point for joining the race, but, since he has taken it upon himself to criticize my taste in movies, he still retains zero points. That'll teach you! Next time you want to win points in a completely ridiculous game, you will learn to be nice to the judge!

QQ #113: Name this JGL movie:
"It only happens once a year, and then they die. It's like a mating ritual or something."

a. Stop-Loss
b. 10 Things I Hate About You
c. Brick
d. The Lookout

Amy Poehler

Movies out Friday

Law Abiding Citizen - Gerard Butler is a badass and super awesome, but I really don't care for Jamie Foxx. He's rather annoying, in my opinion. So I wasn't planning on see this one because my dislike for Foxx outweighs my love for Butler. But after seeing the more recent previews, I'm thinking I might go and see it anyway. It'll probably only be an opportunity thing.

The Stepfather - I have a big fat crush on Penn Badgley and Sela Ward is really cool, but this is technically a scary movie and I'm not sure I'll go see it. Maybe once it's on DVD...

Where the Wild Things Are - Sure this is a classic children's book. Sure the special effects and cinematography looks amazing. Sure Mark Ruffalo is in it. But something about this movie is turning me off. I'm not sure what, but I just don't think I'm going to go see it. I know that seems like blasphemy or what have you, but I'm just not as excited as I apparently should be.

Hi-larious Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Baby Mama. We all know that the Fey/Poehler Combo is beyond brilliant. That makes this movie beyond brilliant PLUS! Because it also stars Steve Martin, Dax Shepard, Greg Kinnear and Sigourney Weaver. I call that pure, unadulterated magic. Comedy magic!

Movies to see:
(Maybe) Law Abiding Citizen, (maybe) Where the Wild Things Are, and (definitely) Baby Mama.

Trailers of the post: Kiddie movies.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. I know it's silly, but I do love the first Alvin movie (even though Jason Lee was a disappointment) and I'm excited for this one because I love The Chipettes!

Astro Boy. I wasn't originally interested in this movie, but after the latest preview, I'm re-thinking my original position.

Name 7 Amy Poehler:
Shrek 3, Baby Mama, The Ex, Southland Tales, Monsters vs Aliens, Horton Hears a Who, Blades of Glory.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Amy Poehler was in Shrek 3 with Cameron Diaz who was in Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise who was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.

a. The Ex
b. Hamlet 2
c. Mr. Woodcock
d. Blades of Glory

Drag Me to Hell - Despite Justin Long, I will not see this movie. Because it's scary. Duh.

Robert De Niro

Movie out Friday

Couples Retreat - This movie was hilarious. It's full of hilarious actors who you love despite their serious malfunctions (i.e. Jon Favreau and his womanizing ways). Everyone is superb and the story is pretty great. All in all, it's a winner. Go see it.

Old School Goodies

Julia Roberts

Sorry, I've been gone (like you've even noticed), but here is a super large post to make up for it.

DVDs out Tuesday September 29th

Away We Go - This was a fantastic movie and I want to buy it as soon as possible. John Krasinski was the perfect man and Maya Rudolph was so adorable! I love it!

Management - I never saw this one, but my aunt swears by it. Apparently Steve Zahn is obsessed with Jennifer Aniston's ass. Who wouldn't be?

Monsters vs. Aliens - See this movie! I don't care how old you are or how you feel about kiddie movies. I demand that you see it!

Movies out Friday October 2nd

The Invention of Lying - I love Ricky Gervais and there are apparently a million cameos from a bunch of awesome actors. I liked Ghost Town so I'm sure I'm going to love this movie. And plus, he directs so it's going to be double-awesome!

Whip It! - This is an amazing, amazing movie! Drew Barrymore directs for the first time and she does a brilliant job. The acting is superb and the story is fantastic and I've run out of adjectives for "awesome"! Go see it. You won't be disappointed.

Zombieland - Does anyone, ANYONE want to see this? Because I really REALLY want to and apparently I'm the only one. Who wouldn't want to see a comedy about killing zombies? Shaun of the Dead? Hello!
DVDs out Today

My Life in Ruins - I never got the chance to see this one, but I wouldn't mind. I really like Nia Vardalos' movies. They're not great, but they're cute, feel-good movies.

Year One - This movie was a good as you can imagine. I laughed all the way through at the ridiculous antics and all the hilarious one-liners. Michael Cera was brilliant once again and I think it would be safe to say that he stole the show from Jack Black.

Mouthful of Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
The Mexican. I love this movie and I love Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts' chemistry. It's funny, cute, and the story is pretty cool for a romantic comedy. I like it, I like it a lot.

Movies to see:
Away We Go, Monsters vs. Aliens, The Invention of Lying, Whip It, Zombieland, My Life in Ruins, Year One and The Mexican.

Trailers of the post: Dramas both cute and intense.

Valentine's Day. A standard chick flick.

Shutter Island. A little too intense for me, but Diana says she's gonna make me see it. I'm not so sure about it, though. Leonardo DiCaprio's hottness can only go so far.

Runaway Bride, Pretty Woman, Mystic Pizza, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Charlie Wilson’s War, Ocean’s 11, America’s Sweethearts.

Uma Thurman

Movies out Friday (Yesterday)

Fame - I just saw this one. It's a little cheesy and way predictable but cute in its own way. Plus, there's a new hottie on the scene. His name is Asher Book and he can sing WHILE playing the piano. He looks like a young Dermot Mulroney. Here, I'll show you:

See? Told ya.

I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell - While I thought it looked funny, my cousin Molly set me straight. So I will not see it because she told me not to and I suggest that no one else see it for fear of her tiny person wrath. Haha.

Pandorum - From the writers of Resident Evil (or the director, or something). Looks pretty badass. Not only that, but Dennis Quaid, Ben Foster and Cam Gigandet. Winner!

Surrogates - Bruce Willis and robots. I'm sold.

Giant, Beautiful, Amazonian Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
My Super Ex-Girlfriend. Yes this movie is dumb, but it is also pretty funny. Anna Faris, Rainn Wilson and Luke Wilson are also all great. Plus, Eddie Izzard! I love that man! And his American accent was adorable, but his British accent snuck in every once in a while which was very exciting. Haha.

Movies to see:
Fame, Pandorum, Surrogates, and My Super Ex-Girlfriend.

Trailers of the post: Thurman-ized.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Yet another Logan Lerman movie. I won't go into my crazy ravings about how much I love him. I think I did that enough in previous posts. Back to the movie, I haven't read the books yet, but I plan to. They look really interesting and I have high hopes from the preview.

Motherhood. It looks funny with a little drama thrown in. Or it looks like a drama with a little comedy thrown in. I have no freaking idea.

John Travolta Part 2

DVDs out Tuesday

Battle for Terra - Weird cartoon about peaceful aliens and the dick earthlings coming to ruin their lives. I'm sensing a brainwashing moral meant to make children be nice to everyone...

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past - Matthew McConaughey being a womanizer. Why they didn't just add "The Biography of Matthew McConaughey" to the end baffles me entirely.

Observe and Report - The dirtier and less funny version of Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Sometimes rated R doesn't work out (only sometimes).

Zuko's Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Broken Arrow. While this is kind of a silly action movie, I absolutely love it and I have no good reason. Perhaps it is because it also stars Christian Slater. Perhaps it is because this is the first film I saw where John Travolta was a bad guy (and man can he play a bad guy!). Perhaps it is because it is just an awesome movie! Watch it for yourself and find out which!

Movies to see:
Broken Arrow. Everything else just looks (or is) dumb.

Trailers of the post: Badass.

From Paris With Love. John Travolta being awesome and Jonathan Rhys Meyers being sexy and funny. Add some explosions and I'd say this is going to be one of the coolest movies. Ever.

Ninja Assassin. Recognize that Asian guy? It's the Asian guy from Speed Racer! What a babe. And his name? Rain. Kind of ridiculous, but he's pretty enough to pull it off.

Name 7 John Travolta:
Pulp Fiction, Get Shorty, Bolt, Two of a Kind, Swordfish, Ladder 49, Carrie.

Kevin Bacon Game:
John Travolta was in Hairspray with Queen Latifah who was in Beauty Shop with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Susan Sarandon

Movies out Friday

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs - I love Bill Hader and I love food and I love cartoons. Needless to say I'm gonna see this movie.

The Informant! - Diana saw this one already and said it was very funny. I'm not a big Matt Damon fan so I didn't bother going, but from what she said I may MAY get it on Netflix. Someday. Far in the future. But hey, Joel McHale is in it and he's hilarious!

Jennifer's Body - Oh my goodness this movie was fantastic! Diablo Cody is my new hero. Her writing is beyond amazing. This film as all the quirky lines that Juno had PLUS a crazy chick possessed by a demon that eats people. What more could you want? It does get a little scary, but I pushed through because it was just so funny!

Love Happens - Now this one I haven't seen, but I definitely plan to. I love Aaron Eckhart. Love him!

Amazingly Talented Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Stepmom. This movie will make you cry every time. And if you don't, you have no heart. It is powerful and emotional and funny and so moving that I'm getting a little teary right now. Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon are beyond wonderful in this movie and I suggest that, if you've never seen it, you rush out right now, rent it, grab a box of tissues and some ice cream, and go to town.

Movies to see:
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Jennifer's Body, Love Happens, and Stepmom.

Trailers of the post: Trippy.

The Lovely Bones. This movie is apparently based off a book (like so many these days), but it looks highly intriguing and even a little scary. I like the cast, though, and the story is interesting.

Pandorum. I want to see this movie! However, there doesn't seem to be any takers from my stockpile of movie buddies. Maybe if you all see the trailer and not base your decisions on my horrible summary skills, though, you'll change your mind!

Name 7 Susan Sarandon:
Thelma and Louise, Mr. Woodcock, Banger Sisters, Anywhere But Here, Speed Racer, Enchanted, James and the Giant Peach.

Kevin Bacon Game:
