Forest Whitaker

Movies out Today

Drive Angry 3D - Nicolas Cage escapes from Hell to avenge his daughter's death and save his baby granddaughter. (To quote Molly: "Nicolas Cage in 3D is something I can't wait to see." Heavy on the sarcasm and rightly so. This looks ridiculous and not even the explosions can lure me in.)

Hall Pass - Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis are given one free week from their wives to do whatever and whomever they want. (I'm really kind of sick of all the movies about dudes cheating on their wives. I don't want to get all "Debbie Downer" but it really shows how disgusting our society has become when adultery is entertaining.)

Vanishing on 7th Street - There's a massive power outtage and people disappear in the darkness so a group of people have to keep light around or they're goners. (So essentially, there is now reason enough to be afraid of the dark again. Night-lights are making a comeback! But in all seriousness, even though Hayden Christensen is in this, I think it looks cool.)

Flidgy Eye Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Panic Room. A woman and her daughter are caught up in a robbery, but they hide themselves in a panic room where the loot is hidden. (I just saw this movie again and it never gets old. It's just so good and so exciting and Forest Whitaker is the bad guy who isn't really a bad guy and Jared Leto is all skeezy and Dwight Yoakam is gross and Jodie Foster kicks ass and Kristen Stewart is just as annoying then as she is now. So yeah, I really like this movie.)

Movies to see:
Vanishing on 7th Street, Panic Room

Trailers of the post

Incendies. A mother's dying wish is for her children to travel into her past and they discover who they really are. (Even though it's foreign and I'll have to put up with subtitles, this looks really really good.)

Madea's Big Happy Family. Tyler Perry dons his muu-muu again to tell another dramatic tale that walks the line between funny and depressing. (I'm not sure how he can always go from laughing about stupid stuff and then crying about serious stuff, but he does and it works for him because the dude is rolling in some serious cash-money...)

Name 7 Forest Whitaker:
Last King of Scotland, Street Kings, Vantage Point, Panic Room, Where the Wild Things Are, Our Family Wedding, Repo Men

Justin Timberlake

DVD out today

Due Date - Robert Downey Jr must put up with the ridiculous antics of Zach Galifianakis during a road trip across the country. (This movie was beyond hilarious and utterly crazy, but what do you expect from Zach Galifianakis? He's a genius!)

Sexyback Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Alpha Dog. Some thugs kidnap and kill a kid and try to get away with it. (This movie was surprisingly good, though with as many great actors I'm not too shocked. What I was shocked about was how decent of an actor J Tim was. He really held his own and was really funny despite the somber tone of the film. Plus, Bruce Willis was in it. Enough said.)

Movies to see:
Due Date, Alpha Dog

Trailers of the post

Desert Flower. A young woman from Africa finds her way to America and struggles to make something more of her life. (Not only does this look inspirational, the story looks absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to see it.)

Hesher. Joseph Gordon-Levitt basically destroys a small child's life for a reason I cannot glean from this trailer. (It looks awesome.)

Name 7 J Tim:

Movies out today

Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son - An FBI agent and his stepson go undercover in an all-girls boarding school. (Um...no thanks.)

I Am Number Four - An alien boy must outrun some other aliens trying to kill him, all the while trying to live a normal teenage life. (The book was amazing and the movie looks AMAZING. Besides, Timothy Olyphant. Come on.)

Unknown - A man wakes up from a car accident to find that people have stolen his life. (This looks intense and Liam Neeson is a beast.)

Gorgeous Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
A Knight's Tale. A servant pretends to be a knight to joust and rise in the aristocracy. (I know this movie isn't very underrated, but it's also beyond awesome and it was the first time I came across Shannyn Sossamon and she's awesome.)

Movies to see:
I Am Number Four, Unknown, A Knight's Tale

Trailers of the post

Ceremony. A couple of friends crash a wedding so one of them can try to steal the bride. (This looks kind of silly and kind of cute. Plus, Lee Pace. Even if he's acting like a douche...)

Atlas Shrugged Part 1. A railroad executive struggles to keep her business afloat against all odds. (The book is really long and, from the trailer, I can tell why. BORING!!!)

Kurt Russell

DVD out today

Unstoppable - A runaway train threatens to destroy stuff and two train conductors have to stop it. (Chris Pine is hot and this movie was actually pretty exciting. Yay trains!)

Goldie's Better Half Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Big Trouble in Little China. A truck driver is somehow tangled up in a centuries old battle in Chinatown. (This movie is beyond ridiculous, but I remember loving it when I was little and Kim Cattrall is crazy.)

Movies to see:
Unstoppable, Big Trouble in Little China

Trailers of the post: Russell Brand Movies

Hop. The heir to the Easter Bunny legacy decides to run away and become a drummer in Hollywood. (This looks pretty precious, but if past movies have taught us anything it's that James Marsden is going to lose Kaley Cuoco to the rabbit.)

Arthur. A spoiled man is cut off after refusing to marry a crazy woman. (This looks positively hilarious and I love absolutely everything about it. I just hope they didn't put all the funny parts in the trailer. But with Russell Brand, chances are there's plenty more.)

Name 7 Kurt Russell:
Overboard, Dreamer, Poseidon, Big Trouble in Little China, Captain Ron, Death Proof, Sky High.

Michelle Pfeiffer

Movies out today

The Eagle - Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell go on an epic journey to find some golden trinket. (Uh, didn't they do this already? It's called Lord of the Rings and they made THREE of them. At least these two are hotter than Elijah Wood and Sean Astin, but won't that make it worse when they start making out in the end?)

Gnomeo & Juliet - Shakespeare's classic play is redone once again with...wait for it...garden gnomes. (I'm all for parodying Shakespeare's stuff, but this is just ridiculous.)

Just Go With It - Adam Sandler's a pig and he ropes Jennifer Aniston into lying to some stupid blonde. (Despite the tone of my summary, this movie looks hilarious and I will be going to see it. I have a huge lady-crush on Jennifer Aniston. Who doesn't?)

Justin Bieber: Never Say Never - A documentary about the Canadian boy wonder. (Never. Oops, just said it.)

PGoodies

Underrated movie of the post:
I Could Never Be Your Woman. An older woman begins dating a vastly younger man and she has to come to terms with being a cougar. (This movie was hilarious. Mostly because Paul Rudd played the younger man and everything he does is beyond funny. I love him, so it's understandable that Michelle Pfeiffer would too.)

Movies to see:
The Eagle (because there's hot dudes), Just Go With It, I Could Never Be Your Woman

Trailers of the post: Precious Dramas

Music Never Stopped. A father goes to extreme lengths to help his son recover his memory from a brain tumor. (I have a big crush on JK Simmons and the boy that plays his son. And even if that wasn't an issue, this looks absolutely adorable.)

Win Win. A wrestling coach takes in a semi-homeless kid who is super good at wrestling. (This looks really good too and, again, I have a big crush on Paul Giamatti. He's just so awesome.)

Name 7 Michelle Pfeiffer:
Hairspray, Story of Us, White Oleander, Deep End of the Ocean, I Could Never Be Your Woman, Dangerous Minds, Dangerous Liasons

Kevin Bacon Game:
Michelle Pfeiffer was in One Fine Day with George Clooney who was in Oceans 11 with Brad Pitt who was in Sleepers with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps

Bill Nighy

Movies out on DVD today
(Beware, there's a ton...)

Beauty & The Briefcase - Hilary Duff goes undercover for a fashion magazine to write a story about finding love in the workplace. (I watched this movie when it premiered on ABC Family a few months back and then I went to write this summary and had to look it up because I forgot what it was about. Enough said.)

For Colored Girls - Lives intertwine in this Tyler Perry remake of the play of the same name. (The trailers made this movie seem really intense, but then the title told me I wasn't allowed to see it. Maybe I'll rent it anyway. Screw you Tyler Perry!)

It's Kind of a Funny Story - A boy checks himself into the mental ward at a hospital and meets a strange array of people. (This movie was funny and quirky and really good. There were a few parts that were kind of just okay, but everything else was good.)

Life As We Know It - Two people who don't like each other must come together to raise the baby of their dead best friends. (This movie was pretty much awesome. It was cute and funny and Katherine Heigl wasn't completely annoying. Oh and Josh Duhamel is shirtless. Sold!)

Middle Men - The story behind the men who made online porn a reality. (There are a lot of my favorites in this movie and I'm going to add it to my Netflix queue right now!)

My Soul to Take - A bunch of kids are haunted by a ghost or something. (Dumb.)

Paranormal Activity 2 - More scary ghosts and night-vision cameras. (Did this come out in theaters? Anyway, hell no.)

The Romantics - Josh Duhamel is supposed to be marrying Anna Paquin, but then I guess he's still hung up on Katie Holmes. (I have really no idea what this movie is about, but I'm going to rent it because Josh Duhamel is in it. He's fine enough to combat any stupid plot or bad acting.)

Tamara Drewe - A young woman becomes the focus of all the men, old and young, of her small town. (This movie looks surprisingly funny despite the ridiculous premise. I'm going to give it a shot.)

You Again - A woman must attend the wedding of her brother and the bitch who tormented her in high school. (I really like Kristen Bell and Jamie Lee Curtis so, even though I didn't want to pay $7 to see it in theaters, I'm going to rent it. Hopefully it won't suck.)

Not The Science Guy Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Love Actually. Stories intertwine in this British comedy about finding love during the holidays. (Bill Nighy was absolutely hilarious in the few scenes that he had in this movie. He's awesome no matter what he does.)

Movies to see:
For Colored Girls, It's Kind of a Funny Story, Life As We Know It, Middle Men, The Romantics, Tamara Drewe, You Again, Love Actually

Trailers of the post: Drama

Soul Surfer. The bio-pic of Bethany Hamilton, a surfer who found the courage to go back in the water after losing her arm in a shark attack. (I like all the actors in this movie and, you have to admit, that Bethany Hamilton chick is a badass.)

Water for Elephants. A boy joins the circus and proceeds to fall in love with the ringmaster's hot wife. (This looks pretty ridiculous and I have a fairly large aversion to Robert Pattinson.)

Name 7 Bill Nighy:
Love Actually, Underworld, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, G-Force, Astro Boy, Pirate Radio, Harry Potter 7.1

Kevin Bacon Game:
Bill Nighy was in Love Actually with Colin Firth who was in Where the Truth Lies with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

QQ #235 winner:
Molly with Hidalgo! And yes, there is a "girl in a cool hat" way to be, but it's far different than "guy in a cool hat" way to be. But to describe it would mean I'd have to delve into philosophy and gender roles so let's save that discussion is for another time...

QQ #236: name this Bill Nighy movie:
"Ha ha... Lookie here boys. A lost bird. A lost bird that never learned to fly!"

a. Hot Fuzz
b. Pirates of the Caribbean 3
c. G-Force
d. Astro Boy

Viggo Mortensen

Movies out today

Frankie & Alice - Halle Berry struggles with a split personality disorder in a time when people didn't know what it was. (This movie, while creepy/weird at first, actually looks pretty awesome upon further investigation. I want to see it.)

The Roommate - One chick goes to college and then gets a really freaky roommate who probably tries to kill everyone. (Cam Gigandet is hot and that one chick from the Disney Channel and Easy A is surprisingly funny. But I still won't be seeing this because it looks stupid/slightly too scary for me.)

Sanctum - A bunch of people go cave-diving and then get trapped and flooded and probably all die. (This looks terrible for 2 reasons: 1. who wants to watch people drown? That's got to be one of the worst ways to die. And 2. who wants to watch people down in 3D? What? So I can feel like I'm in the movie about to drown with everyone else? Thanks, but no thanks.)

Waiting For Forever - A boy never forgets his childhood sweetheart even though she forgot him and he tries to get her to fall in love with him. (This looks quirky and cute in that stalkerish-guy-in-a-cool-hat kind of way. I approve.)

Kickass Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
A History of Violence. A small town man stops a robbery and exposes his not-so-small-town past. (This movie was pretty much amazing. It was interesting, exciting, and kept me guessing until the very end. Underrated doesn't even cover it.)

Movies to see:
Frankie & Alice, Waiting on Forever, A History of Violence

Trailers of the post: Comedy

Elektra Luxx. A retired porn star is roped into seducing someone, but then accidentally seduces someone else and then everything goes to hell. (I like this. I like this a lot! It looks absolutely hilarious.)

Peep World. A family is twisted up even more than usual after one brother exposes its secrets and becomes famous. (There are so many awesome actors in this and it looks funny but also brilliant. I can't wait.)

Name 7 Viggo Mortensen:
Lord of the Rings, A History of Violence, Eastern Promise, Hidalgo, GI Jane, 28 Days, Crimson Tide.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Viggo Mortensen was in The Road with Charlize Theron who was in Trapped with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

c. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
d. Hidalgo

Lindsay Lohan

DVDs out today

Conviction - A woman drops everything and becomes a lawyer to appeal her brother's murder conviction. (I never saw this movie, but I did look up the ending online since it's based on a true story. So it's probably a really good film.)

Let Me In - A small boy befriends a small vampire. (This movie looks really good, but at the same time really scary. Consequently, I didn't see it in theaters, but I plan on getting it through Netflix and watching it during the daytime.)

Welcome to the Rileys - Kristen Stewart is a stripper and James Gandolfini tries to save her or something. (Looks pretty dumb.)

Off The Deep End Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Georgia Rule. A morally inept teen is sent to live with her grandmother in Morman-filled Idaho. (I liked this movie because Lindsay Lohan was essentially herself and everyone was completely screwed up. Plus it was pretty funny in general besides all that.)

Movies to see:
Let Me In, Georgia Rule

Trailers of the post

Brotherhood. A twisted movie about guys who have to rob a store to pledge for a fraternity and everything goes wrong. (As stupid as this sounds, it looks pretty intense and I'm intrigued...)

Skateland. A guy's coming-of-age story centered around his job at Skateland and where his life is going. (I like Ashley Greene and this kind of looks alright.)

Name 7 Lindsay Lohan:
Herbie: Fully Loaded, Parent Trap, I Know Who Killed Me, Georgia Rule, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Mean Girls, Freaky Friday.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Lindsay Lohan was in Georgia Rule with Garrett Hedlund who was in Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.
