Rainn Wilson

DVDs out Tuesday

Absolutely Nothing Worthwhile

Utterly Beyond Hilarious Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Juno. A teenage girl deals with an unplanned pregnancy and, using her never-ending supply of sarcasm and wit, makes the best of a normally difficult situation. (Even though Rainn Wilson is in this movie for a total of 2 minutes, his lines are some of the best in the film. If, for some ridiculous reason, you don't want to watch the entire movie, at least watch his parts.)

Movies to see:

Juno

Trailers of the post

The Green Lantern. A fighter pilot becomes a super hero. (Like ya do. Listen, I don't care what the plot is as long as Ryan Reynolds is shirtless.)

Mr Popper's Penguins. A man has an apartment full of penguins. (Like ya do. Again, I don't care what the plot is as long as Jim Carrey is funny. Which he is. All. The. Time.)

Name 7 Rainn Wilson:
Juno, Last Mimzy, Sahara, Monsters vs Aliens, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Peep World, Super

Kevin Bacon Game:
Rainn Wilson was in Super with Kevin Bacon: 1 step

QQ #257 winner:
Katie guesses right with Bubble Boy!

QQ #258: name this Rainny Day movie:
"Oh, no no. Don't tell me. You have invaded the female nation and spread your democracy."

a. My Super Ex-Girlfriend

Danny Trejo

Movies out Today

Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family - Another movie about a bunch of black people, another chance for Tyler Perry to crossdress. (Is it just me or are there too many apostrophes in this title? Why does he need to slap his name on everything? I mean, he's no Disney.)

Water For Elephants - A young man loses his family, joins a circus and then falls in love with the boss' wife. (I guess now we know what Edward did during that 8 months when he was away from Bella. Yes, that was a Twilight joke and yes, I am ashamed of myself.)

Token Mexican Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Spy Kids. Two kids figure out that their parents are spies and have to save them by becoming spies themselves. (As ridiculous as these movies are and as horrible as the acting is, it is still mildly entertaining. Yes I've seen them all and yes I'm still slightly ashamed.)

Movie to see:

Spy Kids

Trailers of the post

Brother's Justice. A mockumentary following Dax Shepard as he tries to get a stupid martial arts movie made against heavy opposition. (I love me some Dax Shepard and he's completely crazy. Plus the other people he suckered into being in this movie are awesome.)

The Art of Getting By. That little British boy has grown up and deals with love. (He looks exactly the same, only taller and skinnier, but I'm liking the story and drama. Looks good.)

Name 7 Danny Trejo:
Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Spy Kids, xXx, Bubble Boy, Battle for Terra, Fanboys, Predators

Kevin Bacon Game:
Danny Trejo was in Reindeer Games with Charlize Theron who was in Trapped with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps

Donald Sutherland

DVD out April 15

Harry Potter 7.1 - The wizards/witch travel around and try to figure out how to kill Voldemort while dealing with their raging hormones. (Seriously, this movie was just teenagers camping and bitching at each other. But I guess it was necessary because you can't really start the end of the epic movie franchise in the middle... It's kind of like Pirates of the Caribbean 2...)

DVDs out today

Gulliver's Travels - An idiot mail room guy embarks on a crazy adventure and makes a fool out of himself over and over again. (Essentially, Jack Black took the classic story, crapped all over it, and then threw it at the audience. And although I haven't seen it, I'm sure it's still more entertaining than the book which made me want to claw my eyes out... More power to him.)

The King's Speech - The king of England has a stutter and has to see a speech therapist on the sly. (I'm pretty bummed I never saw this one in theaters because it looks amazing. However, I will be getting it on Netflix and I will love it. I will.)

Rabbit Hole - A couple loses their child and has to cope, recover, and move on. (The preview of this looked extremely dramatic and depressing, but also ridiculously brilliant. I'm a little wary, but I will be seeing it and I suggest you do too.)

Somewhere - An actor preoccupied with sex, drugs, and skating through life is confronted with actual responsibilities when his young daughter is dropped on his doorstep. (The trailer for this film was weird, but I still want to see it. I really like Elle Fanning for reasons I cannot explain and the idea of a daddy/daughter emotional drama sounds intriguing.)

DVD out April 22

The Way Back - A group of soldiers escape from Siberia and make the extraordinarily long walk to Tibet and India. (Not only are there interesting actors in this (Jim Sturgess, Colin Farrell, Saoirse Ronan) but the story sounds positively remarkable. I can't wait to see it.)

Creepy Old Man Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Pride & Prejudice. Jane Austen's classic tale is redone for the billionth time. (This was a pretty good interpretation, but the best part is Donald Sutherland as the father. He was snarky and funny...for being a creepy old man.)

Movies to see:
Harry Potter 7.1, The King's Speech, Rabbit Hole, Somewhere, The Way Back, Pride & Prejudice

Trailers of the post: Kiddie Movies

Judy Moody and The Not Bummer Summer. A young girl and her little brother have to do adventurous tasks to earn points in some weird contest. (This looks pretty stupid...)

Winnie The Pooh. The fairytale animals need to find Eeyore a tail. (How is this different from all the other movies and/or TB episodes? The least they could do is come up with something more interesting. Even little kids need some sort of creativity for their movies...)

Name 7 Donald Sutherland:
The Italian Job, An American Haunting, Puppet Master, Pride & Prejudice, Astro Boy, The Mechanic, The Eagle

Kevin Bacon Game:
Donald Sutherland was in JFK with Kevin Bacon: 1 step

QQ #255 winner:
Micheala enters the race with Step Brothers.

John C Reilly

Movies out Today

Atlas Shrugged Part 1 - Trains, companies and conspiracies. (No thanks.)

The Conspirator - A period piece investigating the people behind President Lincoln's assassination. (There are a couple good actors in this one and the story looks intriguing. I probably won't find anyone to see it with me, but I'm for sure going to Netflix it when it comes out.)

Rio - A silly bird is taken to Rio to propagate his species, but it bird-napped and must find a way home. (This looks cute and apparently it is some how associated with Angry Birds which means it is automatically awesome.)

Scream 4 - "Ghostface" returns to hunt a new batch of screaming "teens." (I didn't bother with the first three seeing as I don't like to pee my pants or scream like a ninny, so I don't think I'll bother with this one...)

Silly Man Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant. A young boy becomes a vampire and joins a travelling circus full of supernatural people. (This movie was surprisingly good in that silly, stupid kind of way. But John C Reilly was superb. The only drawback was a creepy, multi-colored spider. Gross.)

Movies to see:

The Conspirator, Rio, Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant

Trailers of the post

Hangover 2. The boys are back and for some reason are in Thailand. (On one hand, this could go the way of other sequels and suck big time. On the other hand, it has Zach Galifianakis so I'm fairly certain it's going to be hilarious no matter what.)

Beginners. A man has to deal with his father's terminal disease and new found homosexuality. (Um, even if it didn't star Ewan McGregor and Christopher Plummer, I would have seen it regardless.)

Name 7 John C Reilly:>Step Brothers, Talladega Nights, Perfect Storm, For the Love of the Game, Walk Hard, Chicago, 9

Kevin Bacon Game:

John C Reilly was in Chicago with Renee Zellweger who was in My One and Only with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps

Michael Pena

DVD out Today

Country Strong - A country music star deals with alcoholism, losing her fame to a younger star, and, the hardest of all, trying not to jump Garrett Hedlund. (It's a feat in itself.)

Sweet Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:

The Lucky Ones. Three soldiers on leave are forced to drive across country with each other and deal with the mixed responses from the citizens they encounter. (This was a remarkably moving film and it really gives its audience a peek into some of the issues returning soldiers experience. But it's not all dreary sadness, there are some funny parts too.)

Movies to see:

Country Strong, The Lucky Ones

Trailers of the post: Chick Flicks

An Invisible Sign. A socially stunted woman is forced out on her own and takes a job as an elementary school teacher, helping them through problems and facing her own. (As much as I'm not a fan of Jessica Alba, I have to admit that this looks pretty good...)

Love Wedding Marriage. A marriage counsellor has to save her parents' failing marriage while trying to navigate her new one. (I've got a huge crush on Mandy Moore and this movie looks cute and funny. The three essentials for a cheesy rom-com.)

Name 7 Michael Pena:

Crash, Shooter, World Trade Center, The Lucky Ones, Babel, Observe and Report, Battle: Los Angeles

Kevin Bacon Game:

Michael Pena was in Shooter with Mark Wahlberg who was in The Departed with Jack Nicholson who was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps

QQ #253 winner:

Katie with A-Team!

Liam Neeson, Part Deux

Movies out Today

Arthur - The heir to a multi-million dollar estate is forced into marrying a psycho, but decides to try giving it all up to be with the girl he loves. (Russell Brand is a comic genius so prepare to laugh continuously for upwards of 2 hours. I can't wait!)

Hanna - A young girl is trained by her father for combat all to kill some government spy lady. (As much as I dislike Eric Bana, this movie looks too cool to pass up.)

Soul Surfer - A teenage surfer loses her arm in a shark attack and find the strength to teach herself to surf again. (Super inspirational and loaded with an awesome cast. Maybe I'll find the strength to start working out after I see it. Or not...)

Your Highness - A medieval spoof, two brothers, one brave and one stupid, go on a quest to rescue the brave one's girlfriend. (James Franco, Danny McBride, Natalie Portman, and Zooey Deschanel. Convinced yet? If not, what is wrong with you??)

Deceptively Awesome Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Love, Actually. A conglomeration of stories that all center around finding, losing, and living with love. (It really is a beautiful movie and it's also funny making it the ultimate British chick flick. But Lian Neeson's story is particularly moving where he is the step-father to a boy who just lost his mother and has to find a way to connect with him. Just wonderful.)

Movies to see:

Arthur, Hanna, Soul Surfer, Your Highness, Love Actually

Trailers of the post: Weird Dramas

Midnight in Paris. A man visiting Paris escapes from his wife and her parents every night and does stuff. (Yeah, it's written and directed by Woody Allen so of course it's going to be weird, but there's also a mystery to it because where the heck is Owen Wilson going? Also, the rest of the cast is phenomenal: Michael Sheen, Adrien Brody, Rachel McAdams, Marion Cotillard.)

The Tree of Life. Centered around a family in the 1950s, the eldest of three sons witnesses something tragic. (I just hope there's actual dialogue in the movie instead of just scenes with creepy music.)

Name 7 (more) Liam Neeson:

Kingdom of Heaven, Ponyo, Clash of the Titans, After.Life, A-Team, The Next Three Days, Chronicles of Narnia
Kevin Bacon Game (w/o Colin Firth):

Liam Neeson was in After.Life with Justin Long who was in Drag Me to Hell with Alison Lohman who was in Where the Truth Lies with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps

Tobey Maguire

DVDs out today

Little Fockers - Ben Stiller and Robert DeNiro reunite for the third film in the series. (As much as I disliked the first two, I have to say that this one looks moderately funny. I'm pretty sure it's because of that little boy that plays the son.)

TRON: Legacy - Kevin Flynn's son, Sam, grows up without his father and gets sucked into the cyberworld that his father disappeared into when he was a child. (While not completely amazing, the special effects were cool and the story was decent. Really, the only reason this movie is worth seeing is if you loved the original or at least thought it was hilarious.)

Bug-Eyed Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Pleasantville. Two teenage siblings get sucked into their favorite black & white television show and must bring the old-fashioned town to life. (I mean, this movie isn't that great, but it is one of the more decent movies I've seen with Tobey Maguire. Plus, all the random actors that appear in it makes it interesting.)

Movies to see:
Little Fockers, TRON: Legacy, Pleasantville

Trailers of the post

Everything Must Go. A man loses everything and ends up living on his front lawn among all his possessions. (This looks adorably funny and inspiring at the same time. The last time Will Ferrell did a dramatic comedy it was Stranger Than Fiction and that movie was AWESOME.)

Beautiful Boy. The parents of a college campus shooter come to terms with their son's actions and try to move on with their lives. (This film is remarkable and I'm intrigued to see this side of the story. Besides that, Maria Bello and Michael Sheen are beyond amazing and I love them both.)

Name 7 Tobey Maguire:
Spiderman, Cats & Dogs, Pleasantville, The Good German, Seabiscuit, Ice Storm, Brothers

Kevin Bacon Game:
Tobey Maguire was in The Good German with Matt Damon who was in Saving Private Ryan with Tom Hanks who was in Apollo 13 with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps

Lucy Liu

Movie out Today
Hop - The son of the Easter Bunny runs off to become a drummer in Hollywood while crazy chicks try and steal the holiday. (Even IF this didn't have Russell Brand's voice and James Marsden's hunky-ness, I would still see it because it looks beyond adorable.)

Insidious - A couple struggles to deal with a haunted house that puts their kid in a coma or something. (Uh...no thanks. If I can't watch the trailers without closing my eyes, you can bet your ass I'm not going to see it.)

Source Code - Jake Gyllenhaal travels back in time to relive the last 8 minutes of some guy's life and has to solve a mystery AND save the girl. (If there is one lesson that this movie teaches us, it is that hot people can do anything. ANYTHING.)

Super - A man loses his wife to a drug dealer which pushes him over the edge into becoming his own superhero. (In what world would Rainn Wilson lose his wife? In the same world that KEVIN BACON steals his wife!!! The Bacon strikes again! Muah ha ha ha ha! ... Yeah, I've lost my mind...)

Delightfully Asian Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Lucky # Slevin. A guy is mistakenly wrapped up in a war between two high-level mob bosses. (Lucy Liu is quirky and precious in this movie and Josh Hartnett is nerdy-hot and Bruce Willis is just hot. If that weren't enough, the writing in the film is great and it kept me guessing until the very end. Great movie!)
Movies to see:
Hop, Source Code, Super, Lucky # Slevin
Trailers of the post
Mother's Day. A crazy family returns to their childhood home to terrorize the new residents. (This looks absolutely twisted, in a good way.)
