Julia Roberts, Take Two

DVDs out Tuesday

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - This movie was more confusing than I originally anticipated. On top of that, it wasn't what it was advertised to be. Heath Ledger's character was made out to be a hero and ended up being a dirtbag. Christopher Plummer was pretty great, though.

It's Complicated - I heard that this movie was pretty great for a chick-flick. I intend on Netflix-ing it.

Classic Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
America's Sweethearts. This movie goes beyond a standard chick flick. Normally it is just comedy with a touch of drama, but this has so much comedy and great acting that you can't help laughing your ass off for days on end. Everything about it is fantastic. Everything!

Movies to see:
It's Complicated and America's Sweethearts.

Trailers of the post: Dramas.

Eat, Pray, Love. I was never really interested in the book and, from the trailer, the main character seems a little annoying, but I like Julia Roberts and James Franco and Javier Bardem is hunky (when he doesn't have that creepy haircut). Still, I probably won't rush out to see it.

TiMER. This looks very interesting. I like the concept and I really want to see where it ends. And the rest of it looks good too.

Name 7 Julia Roberts:
The Mexican, The Pelican Brief, Flatliners, Charlotte's Web, Dying Young, Duplicity, Mona Lisa Smile.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Julia Roberts was in Flatliners with Kevin Bacon: 1 step.

Jason Bateman

Movies out Friday

The Back-Up Plan - I have something to confess: I like J.Lo. movies. At least the ones that I have seen. I refuse to see the really horrible ones (Gigli), but I like all the rest (The Wedding Planner, Angel Eyes, Enough). So I am going to see this one too and it has nothing to do with the hunky dude that co-stars (well maybe not nothing...).

The Losers - The first of this year's action theme movies. Apparently all the action guys got together and decided to make a bunch of movies with the same premise (see Expendables, A-Team). However I will be seeing them all because they are all pretty awesome in their own unique way. This one, for instance, has really hot guys and comedy along with explosions and general mayhem. Winner.

Paper Man - See Trailers of the Post.

Awkwardly Hilarious Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Dodgeball. I love this movie and it is very well known, but what most people either forget about or take for granted is Jason Bateman's part as the color commentator Pepper Brooks. He was full of one-liners during the game scenes and kept me laughing throughout. He's hilarious!

Movies to see:
The Back-Up Plan, The Losers, Paper Man, and Dodgeball.

Trailers of the Post: More Comedy!

The Switch. I cannot wait to see this. I recently realized that I have actually started seeing Jennifer Aniston as a legitimate actress (and not just Rachel from Friends) and Jason Bateman is hilarious. But moreover, this plot is kind of similar to other comedies, but I think it has a little twist that should make it very interesting. And funny. Come on, it looks great!

Paper Man. I hope this movie comes to Arizona because it looks awesome. Jeff Daniels is one of my all-time favorites, Emma Stone is quickly becoming cool, and Lisa Kudrow is great! Plus, need I say it? Ryan Reynolds running around in spandex for 2 hours! Heck yes!

Name 7 Jason Bateman:
Juno, Dodgeball, The Ex, Smokin' Aces, Hancock, Tropic Thunder, Extract.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Jason Bateman was in Hancock with Charlize Theron who was in Trapped with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Marky Mark Wahlberg, Double the Fun

DVDs out Today (and Thursday)

Crazy Heart - At first I wasn't very interested in seeing this, but I've heard so many amazing reviews that I feel I'm obligated to. Besides, I do kind of like Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal, so what's the harm?

The Lovely Bones - I read the book before seeing the film (as per usual) and I was pleasantly surprised. This is one of the few books-turned-movies that stuck very close to the plot and it did a remarkable job. It is definitely something you should read/watch, but tread carefully and read the summary first. It has an intense subject and I don't want you to be surprised.

The Young Victoria - A beautiful film. I absolutely loved it and the acting was wonderful throughout. I also enjoyed learning a bit about Queen Victoria, so that's a plus. Emily Blunt is amazing and I can't get enough of her and Rupert Friend was perfect. Go see it.

Avatar - For some odd reason they are releasing this movie on a Thursday. I can't fathom why. As I said before, the story is a bit contrived, but the acting is great and the special effects are crazy awesome. Duh.

Super Fine Goodies

(You're Welcome)

Underrated movie of the post:

Four Brothers. This is a pretty awesome shoot-em-up revenge flick with a strange mix of actors (Marky Mark, Garrett Hedlund, Andre 3000, and Tyrese Gibson). Although some of the hunky dudes have nasty long and slicked back hair, the other hunky dudes make up for it by being altogether hunky. So I suppose what I'm trying to say is this movie has awesome fight scenes, a few twists, a few tear-jerkers, and hunky, hunky dudes.

Movies to see:
Crazy Heart, The Lovely Bones, The Young Victoria, Avatar, and Four Brothers.

Trailers of the post: Laugh your face off Comedy

The Other Guys. I dare you to say this doesn't look hilarious. I freaking dare you.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. There is so much wrong with this trailer that you can't help but laugh. I can't wait! Plus, Chris Evans is in there somewhere. Can you find him??

Name 7 Marky-Mark:
The Departed, Shooter, Planet of the Apes, Invincible, Max Payne, We Own the Night, The Lovely Bones.

Kevin Bacon Game (w/o Jack Nicholson):

Milla Jovovich

Movies out Friday

Kick-Ass - I want to see this movie! It looks beyond hilarious and I'm loving the characters. From what I can see, it's going to be fantastic!

Death at a Funeral - I really loved the original, British version of this film. It's as Eddie Izzard says, if a film makes any kind of money in Britain, America takes it and reworks it and makes it "Room with a view of HELL! Staircase of SATAN!! Lake of DEATH!!" But I probably will see this remake because it looks just as funny as the original and I whole-heartedly approve of James Marsden on drugs on a roof...naked. Heck yes.

Supernaturally Awesome Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
The Fifth Element. This is an amazing, awesome, wonderful movie and I don't care what Katrina Winn says because she is wrong. And if anyone else reading this does not like The Fifth Element and thinks it is stupid then you might as well stop reading altogether because you clearly have no taste in movies and nothing I say will teach you anything. However, if you love this movie as much as I do and appreciate it and find its faults make it even more wonderful, then you are in the right place. (I'm sorry about the rant, but I haven't had one in a while and it felt good.)

Movies to see:
Kick-Ass, Death at a Funeral (both versions), and The Fifth Element.

Trailers of the post: Sci-Fi Awesomeness.

Resident Evil: Afterlife. I am so freaking excited for this it isn't even funny. I had no idea they were even making it so, needless to say, I nearly peed my pants when I found this trailer.

Splice. This looks kind of weird and I'm not sure if I approve. However, Adrien Brody is in it and I love him a lot. And it's weird in an almost cool way...

Name 7 Milla Jovovich:
The Fifth Element, Ultraviolet, Zoolander, Resident Evil, Dazed and Confused, A Perfect Getaway, The Fourth Kind.

Samuel L Jackson, The Second

DVDs out today

The Great Mouse Detective - I love this movie. It used to terrify me, but after a while I got over it.

Pirate Radio - I've heard good things about this movie, but I have an aversion to Philip Seymour Hoffman. Will I Netflix it? Not even I know the answer...

Ridiculous Yet Awesome Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Deep Blue Sea. This is actually an awful movie, but no matter what happens, if I see it while I'm channel surfing, I always watch it. I can't explain it.

Movies to see:

Pierce Brosnan

I know I said I wouldn't miss anymore posts, but school is about to end and I'm busy, alright?

DVDs out Tuesday

Literally nothing worth mentioning. So I didn't miss anything! How convenient.

Movies out Friday

After.Life - (See: Trailers of the post) Looks really creepy, but simultaneously awesome. I hope it comes to AZ.

Date Night - Who doesn't want to see two of the funniest people on television in one movie? Also, Marky Mark is shirtless. I smell an Oscar.

Letters to God - Bring a box of tissues and don't bother bringing me. I refuse to cry for 2 hours straight.

The Runaways - I'm pretty sure this already came to AZ. I just don't pay attention (and I don't really care much).

City Island - I want to see this because I love Steven Strait and it looks mildly hilarious. But that's all, no other important reasons.

The Greatest - (See: Trailers of the post) I am absolutely in love with this just from the trailer. It looks amazing! I can't wait to drag some unsuspecting friend to it!

Goodies. Sexy Goodies.

Underrated movie of the post:
Laws of Attraction. This movie has everything you love about Pierce Brosnan mixed with a crap-ton of kooky characters and a cute love story. Why no one nominated it for anything is beyond me.

Movies to see:
After.Life, Date Night, City Island, and The Greatest.

Trailers of the post

The Greatest. The title speaks for itself, doesn't it?

After.Life. Weird, right?! I can't wait to see it. And Justin Long? Wonderful!

Name 7 Pierce Brosnan:
Mamma Mia!, Tomorrow Never Dies, The Matador, Laws of Attraction, Quest for Camelot, Percy Jackson, Remember Me.

Queen Latifah

Movies out...

on Wednesday the 31st
The Last Song - I have a huge vendetta against Nicolas Sparks, but apparently that doesn't keep me from seeing his movies. I'll even see this one despite my distaste for Miley Cyrus. I don't know why, it just looks good. Whoever makes the trailers for these movies deserves a raise.

Today the 1st
Clash of the (Freaking) Titans - I really liked this movie. I didn't get a chance to see the original beforehand, but I want to. The story and acting weren't superb, but the special effects were outstanding. Also, Sam Worthington is a stone cold fox. That is all.

Friday the 2nd
Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too? - I don't know why and I don't care.

Royal Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
The Secret Life of Bees. I can't say enough good things about this movie. It's a beautiful film and all of the actors do a marvelous job. I know that I always tell people to go see movies, most of them ridiculous, but you NEED to see this one. It's imperative to your health.

Movies to see:
Clash of the Titans and The Secret Life of Bees.

Trailers of the post: Chick Flick

Just Wright. I like this movie, I like it a lot. Common is a babe and who doesn't love some intense drama mixed in with just the right amount of romance and humor?

My Girlfriend's Boyfriend. I'm hesitant about this. Alyssa Milano takes a huge break from movies/TV and she chooses this movie? While the plot isn't contrived, per say, it seems really predictable. What does intrigue me is that the obviously hunky guy doesn't seem like a total douche bag.

Name 7 Queen Latifah:
Sphere, Living Out Loud, The Secret Life of Bees, What Happens in Vegas, Ice Age 2, Taxi, Mad Money.

Kevin Bacon Game (without using Beauty Shop):
Queen Latifah was in The Secret Life of Bees with Dakota Fanning who was in Trapped with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.
