Angelina Jolie, Part 2

Movie out Friday

Saw 3D - Even cooler traps and death and gore, but in really stupid 3D. (I haven't seen a Saw since the third, so I don't think I'll be lining up to see this one. Although I doubt the plot has gotten very complicated.)

DVD out Tuesday

Toy Story 3 - The toys have to escape a daycare run by a psychotic teddy bear. (A little darker than I would have expected, but I loved it none the less.)

Maybe a Little Crazy Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Salt. Angelina is accused of being a Russian spy and hunted down by her fellow CIA agents. (Although it looked really predictable in the trailers, I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It wasn't as terrible or predictable as I thought it would be. I highly recommend it.)

Movies to see:
Toy Story 3, Salt

Trailers of the post: Comedies

Tiny Furniture. A girl returns home after graduating college and tries to figure out what to do with her life. (This is a SUPER independent film, but despite a few moments of stupid drama it looks pretty funny.)

The Dilemma. Vince Vaughn finds out Kevin James' wife, Winona Ryder, is having an affair with Channing Tatum. (Obviously who could blame her, but you had me at Vince Vaughn and Kevin James.)

Name 7 Angelina Jolie:
Playing By Heart, A Mighty Heart, Alexander, Changling, Pushing Tin, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Salt.

Kevin Bacon Game (without Brad Pitt):
Angelina Jolie was in The Good Shepherd with Matt Damon who was in Saving Private Ryan with Tom Hanks who was in Apollo 13 with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.

QQ #211 winner:
Me because no one guessed Evan Almighty! Didn't think I would use that one twice in a row, did you? Did you?! Victory!

QQ #212: name this Angelina Jolie movie:
"Protect the rabbits! Protect the rabbits!"

b. Kung Fu Panda

Jonah Hill

Due to Katie Hesser complaining that all I do is comment on movies instead of explaining what they are about, I have decided to take her challenge and explain the movies I talk about in one sentence or less. So now all my pithy comments will be put into parentheses after my one-sentence description. You're welcome, whiner.
DVDs out today

Sex and the City 2 - The girls go to Abu Dhabi, experience culture shock, realize how much they take their lives for granted, and Samantha has a ton of sex. (I'm surprised it has taken this long for this movie to come out on DVD. I feel like it already has and now it's being re-released... Either that or it's just stupid. Anyway, this movie is just as great as the show and the first movie: not very, but it's worth watching if you have a uterus.)

Winter's Bone - A girl living in the Ozarks has to find her dad or her and her siblings will be homeless, but all the other crazy rednecks get in her way. (This movie was ridiculously weird and highly disturbing. It wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be, but it is definitely not a heart-warming movie.)

Nerdy or Gross Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Accepted. Justin Long starts his own college after not being accepted into any legitimate ones then somehow finds a way to make it legitimate. (One of Jonah Hill's first movies before he hit the big time. He started out playing the witty/stupid sidekick and now he's playing the witty/stupid CARTOON sidekick. Winner. Actually, I like Jonah Hill even though he can sometimes be really annoying.)

Movies to see:
Sex and the City 2, Accepted

Trailers of the post: Chick Flick

Rising Stars. Some kids are thrown together to produce a hit song AND music video and pathetic drama ensues. (This looks like a lamer version of the remake of Fame, which was pretty lame to begin with.)

From Prada to Nada. A twist on "Sense and Sensibility", rich girls have to live as poor girls and Fez hooks up with a Spy Kid. (I know it looks really really stupid, but I am absolutely going to see it. Looks great!)

Name 7 Jonah Hill:
Superbad, Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Night at the Museum 2, Funny People, The Invention of Lying, How to Train Your Dragon.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Jonah Hill was in Funny People with Eric Bana who was in Troy with Brad Pitt who was in Sleepers with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.

Lauren Graham

Movies out Today

Hereafter - Even with my aversion to Clint Eastwood movies and not loving Matt Damon as much as everyone else, I really want to see this. Plus, I do like Bryce Dallas Howard, so there's something.

Paranormal Activity 2 - As I said to the first one, no thanks. In fact, I'll go one further and say, Hells no.

Beautiful Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Because I Said So. There aren't many movies where Lauren Graham is a major player, but I know that she is amazing. Gilmore Girls was awesome and her part in Because I Said So was just as great. She is hilarious with the perfect combination of heart-warming-ness.

Movies to see:
Hereafter, Because I Said So.

Trailers of the post: Kiddie Movies

Gnomeo & Juliet. Little kid movies can be pretty lame, but this one takes the cake.

Rio. They started advertising for this movie a few months ago and its not coming out until April of next year. Really? It better be pretty fantastic. And from what I can see it's not that great. And I can't even embed it in my blog so here's the link, if it still matters to you (I'll understand if it doesn't).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_8Pf8klXDU

Dakota Fanning

DVD out Today

Predators - This movie was pretty freaking awesome. I love Adrien Brody and Topher Grace was perfect. He was his normal crazy self which really brought some humor to the film.

Robotic and/or Alien Goodies

Underrated movies of the post:
Uptown Girls and The Secret Life of Bees. I think Uptown Girls was one of the better film because it is so much lighter and funnier than all of the other films that Dakota Fanning is in. Everything else is so dark and serious. On the other hand, The Secret Life of Bees is so well written and well acted and filled with such great actors that I couldn't NOT mention it.

Movies to see:
Predators, Uptown Girls, The Secret Life of Bees.

Trailers of the post: Even More Dramas

Kalamity. There are so many of my favorites in this movie but it looks way too bizarre for me.

All Good Things. Again, a couple of my favorites (including a few seconds of Kristin Wiig!) but it looks really stupid.

The Way Back. Now THIS looks great. An epic for the ages!

Name 7 Dakota Fanning:
War of the Worlds, Dreamer, Hide and Seek, Man on Fire, Trapped, Charlotte's Web, The Secret Life of Bees.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Dakota Fanning was in Trapped with Kevin Bacon: 1 step.

Rupert Everett

Movies out today

Jackass 3D - While I am completely against 3D movies, I couldn't pass up seeing the newest antics from the CKY guys and thankfully there was a 2D showing at midnight (yes, I couldn't wait). It is just as hilarious as the first two and the show if not more and my love for Johnny Knoxville was renewed. He is so freaking fine!

RED - Speaking of so freaking fine, my man Bruce Willis kicks some as with his elderly cohorts. It's actually a kickass cast as well as being filled with action and explosions. I can't wait to see it seven times!

Upstanding Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Inspector Gadget. Rupert Everett was pretty much the best part of this movie. His smarmy attitude and great one-liners were awesome and I find that I was more on his side than Matthew Broderick's. "No just 'Claw'. One word, like Madonna." <--Best line of the movie.
Movies to see:
Jackass 3D, RED, Inspector Gadget.

Trailers of the post: More Dramas

Night Catches Us. This movie looks really intense and I'm not quite sure if it's going to be a happy ending, but something about it is drawing me in and I can't put my finger on it.

The Tempest. I'm not a huge fan of Shakespeare unless it's put into modern times, but this one looks pretty awesome. Helen Mirren is a beast!

True Grit. The Coen Brothers are 50/50 for me. I either love the movie or absolutely hate it. And although this one looks along the lines of No Country For Old Men, I think I may see it anyway. If only to see Matt Damon dressed as a cowboy. Ridiculous.

Name 7 Rupert Everett:
Inspector Gadget, My Best Friend's Wedding, Stardust, An Ideal Husband, Shrek 2, Shakespeare in Love, A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Rupert Everett was in My Best Friend's Wedding with Julia Roberts who was in Flatliners with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

QQ #207 winner:
Me because no one guessed Evening. Nice try Katie! Haha.

QQ #208: name this Rupert Everett movie:
"I will wrench his head from his shoulders! I will smite him where he stands!"

a. Shrek 2
b. A Midsummer Night's Dream
c. Shakespeare in Love
d. Inspector Gadget

Hugh Dancy

DVD out today (a very uninteresting Tuesday)

Jonah Hex - This movie came out in June and didn't even last 4 months in theaters. I think that's all that needs to be said.

Adorably Hot Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Ella Enchanted. I chose this one because it was the original movie that made me fall in love with Hugh Dancy. He was just absolutely precious and you can't deny that he is absolutely gorgeous in that awkwardly cute kind of way.

Movie to see:
Ella Enchanted

Trailers of the post: Dramas

As Good As Dead. Holy crap! Poor Carey Elwes! This movie looks really intense and I can't figure out if he really did it or if Andie McDowell is just a nut-job. So if it's not predictable, then I'm on board.

Inhale. This one looks like a tear-jerker, but it looks pretty thrilling up until you cry because chances are either the daughter dies or Dermot Mulroney dies getting her a lung. Oh jeez...

The King's Speech. There are so many of my favorite actors in this film that I know it's going to be AMAZING!!!!

Name 7 Hugh Dancy:
Ella Enchanted, King Arthur, Jane Austen Book Club, Evening, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Adam, The Sleeping Dictionary.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Hugh Dancy was in Adam with Rose Byrne who was in Troy with Brad Pitt who was in Sleepers with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.

a. Jane Austen Book Club
b. Adam
c. Ella Enchanted
d. Evening

Kristin Chenoweth

Movies out today

Buried - I'm not so sure I want to see this one. I've never been claustrophobic, but I am against weird movies that take place in a coffin.

It's Kind of a Funny Story - Now this movie I want to see. It looks hilarious, casts great underrated actors, and could be emotionally touching as well. It's a winner!

Life as We Know It - Although Katherine Heigl can only play one role, she plays it well. And, as always, her bitchy high-maintenance character is softened by a ridiculously hot man. In this glorious case, Josh Duhamel. Hells yeah.

My Soul to Take - No thanks. Usually I say no to scary movies because they're too scary, but I'm saying no to this because it looks stupid.

Nowhere Boy - I really wanna watch this and not only because I like The Beatles, but because I'm genuinely interested in learning about how people got to be famous. Or crazy. In this case, maybe both...

Secretariat - I can tell you how this one ends. And even though I want to learn about John Lennon despite knowing how his life ended, horses aren't as interesting.

Tamara Drewe - I hope this one comes to town. It looks great! (Except for the creepy old men scamming on young teenagers)

Tiny Excitable Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Four Christmases. While Chenoweth hasn't been in too many films, she is always like a little ray of hilarity in everything she does. I think this is one of her best roles. She's adorable.

Movies to see:
It's Kind of a Funny Story, Life as We Know It, Nowhere Boy, Tamara Drewe, Four Christmases.

Trailers of the post: Awesome Actions

Skyline. The first trailer for this film was great with the people being sucked up in the sky. Now it is way cooler with the lights and the eyes and the dissolving people. Awesome!

Warrior's Way. Ninjas in the wild west? Count me in!

I am Number Four. I'm not sure what exactly this is about, but it sounds and looks intense so I'm going to keep my eye on it.

Name 7 Kristin Chenoweth:
Four Christmases, Tinker Bell, Space Chimps, Deck the Halls, Stranger Than Fiction, RV, Pink Panther.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Kristin Chenoweth was in Stranger Than Fiction with Queen Latifah who was in Beauty Shop with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

QQ #205 winner:
Molly with Catwoman! Great guess!

QQ #206: name this KChen movie:
"Look, you have three choices. You can either quit... give up... or get mad."

a. Bewitched
b. You Again
c. Four Christmases
d. Running with Scissors

Halle Berry

DVDs out today

Beauty and the Beast - Now this is a Disney movie that I will be buying. It is SO good!!

The Karate Kid - This movie was surprisingly delightful. It just goes to show that Jackie Chan makes everything great.

Splice - I never got the chance to see this movie in theaters. Mostly because it kind of creeped me out. I do think I'll see it eventually, though, because I have a big fat crush on Adrien Brody.

Impossibly Beautiful Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Swordfish. I have always loved this movie and Halle Berry is terrific in it. You can't figure out which side she's really on until the very end. It's that good.

Movies to see:
Beauty and The Beast, Karate Kid, Splice, Swordfish.

Trailers of the post: Chick Flicks

Nice Guy Johnny. I've always loved Edward Burns, but he directs really odd movies that can be difficult to get into. However, this one looks really interesting and I have high hopes.

Burlesque. There is nothing greater than a crazy-dramatic musical with scandalous outfits, hot dudes, and Cher.

Name 7 Halle Berry:
X Men, Die Another Day, Catwoman, Monster's Ball, Swordfish, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Perfect Stranger.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Halle Berry was in The Flintstones with John Goodman who was in Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

"I longed for someone to see what was special in me. You did, and for that, you'll always be in my heart."

a. Monster's Ball
b. Catwoman

d. Their Eyes Were Watching God
