Patrick Dempsey

DVDs out December 17

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole - Some cartoon owls come under attack and a bunch of misfits have to go find the legendary Owls of Ga'Hoole to save them. (No thanks. Although the trailer did introduce me to the kickass song by 30 Seconds to Mars "Kings and Queens." So I guess it was good for something.)

The Town - Ben Affleck is a part of a gang of bank robbers, but he falls in love with one of the hostages they take and tries to get away from it all with her. (This looks rather good, surprisingly. I learned from Gone Baby Gone that Ben Affleck is a decent director so I'm looking forward to seeing if this one holds up.)

DVDs out December 21

Devil - Five strangers are stuck on an elevator, trapped by the devil himself, as a cop races to save them before they are taken out one by one. (This was a decent movie. M Night Shyamalan is hit or miss, but I still have a soft spot for him. He's a great story-teller.)

Easy A - A teenage girl is accidentally branded a slut, but uses it to her advantage to gain popularity until everything begins to fall apart. (This was a stellar movie. The writing was kickass as well as the acting. Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson really steal the show.)

Step Up 3D - A dance group must win a competition to save their house where they all live because they are pretty much homeless. (Like the previous movies, this one is pretty much ridiculous and over-dramatized to the highest degree. Which is exactly why I went to see it. Dancing saves lives, guys. For reals.)

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps - Gordon Gekko is out of jail and back to his old tricks with his daughter's new boyfriend along for the ride. (This movie reeks of douche-baggery and I staunchly refused to see it.)

Movies out December 22

Little Fockers - Ben Stiller and his cast of amazing actors return to take on more family mishaps that would never happen in real life and then added kids. (I really am not a fan of these movies, but I have to admit that I kind of wanted to see this one. I'm not sure why.)

True Grit - A young girl hires a bounty hunter to track down the man that killed her father in the old west. (I've heard some pretty great reviews, but the Coen Brothers are really hit or miss for me. I guess I'll just have to take the chance.)

DVDs out December 28

Resident Evil: Afterlife - Milla Jovovich tracks down the "haven" promised over the radio in the previous movies only to find that it doesn't exist and she still has to save Ali Larter's ass. (I freaking love these movies and I plan on purchasing them all. They are just the right amount of scary + awesome.)

Twelve - Chase Crawford is a drug-dealer with a huge crush on a normal girl and tries to get out of the game. (You had me at Chase Crawford.)

McGoodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Can't Buy Me Love. A nerdy Patrick Dempsey pays the popular girl in school to pretend to be his girlfriend so he will be popular. (Prostitution in the 80s has never been so good.)

Movies to see:
The Town, Devil, Easy A, Little Fockers, True Grit, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Twelve, Can't Buy Me Love.

Trailers of the post: Kids movies

Mars Needs Moms. A kid has to travel to Mars to save his mother after aliens come to Earth and steal them all. (This looks utterly stupid.)

Hop. A bunny playing the drums. (I have no idea what this is about. But I like it already.)

Prom. Chronicling some teenage drama leading up to Prom. (If there is one thing I don't want to relive, it's high school during Prom season. Pass.)

Enchanted, Made of Honor, Loverboy, Lucky 7, Sweet Home Alabama, Scream 3, Valentine's Day.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Patrick Dempsey was in Made of Honor with Michelle Monaghan who was in North Country with Charlize Theron who was in Trapped with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.

c. Sweet Home Alabama
d. Made of Honor

Michael Cera

Movies out today

How Do You Know - Reese Witherspoon is conflicted because she's never sure she's in love. (I love this cast and I know it's going to be hilarious. I just know it!)

The Fighter - Marky-Mark and a creepy Christian Bale are brothers in this boxing movie based on a true Cinderella Story. (I love Marky-Mark and Amy Adams, but boxing movies don't do it for me. Plus, I've already looked up the ending on Wikipedia.)

The Tempest - Shakespeare's classic is redone with today's superior technology and an awesome cast. (As much as I dislike Shakespeare, I may go see this simply because Helen Mirran is a crazy ass.)

TRON: Legacy - A sexy, sexy man must enter a digital world to solve the mystery of his father's disappearance. (I have been freaking PUMPED for this movie ever since I heard it was being made! And then I nearly peed my pants when I found out Garrett Hedlund would star in it. So, yeah. I'm going to see it.)

Yogi Bear - A talking bear with a penchant for picnic baskets harasses people in a national park. (This is ridiculous. I didn't like the cartoon and I'm sure as hell not going to see the live action.)

Awkwardly Adorable Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. A boy must defeat a girl's seven evil exes before he can date her safely. (This movie isn't underrated, at least it shouldn't be, but I freaking loved it! I know it's been out on DVD for a while, but I really do plan on buying it someday and watching it seven times in a row or until I die of happiness.)

Movies to see:
How Do You Know, The Tempest, TRON: Legacy, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World.

Trailers of the post: Action

Kill the Irishman. A tough Irish guy takes on the mob in the 1950s. (There are so many awesome actors and explosions that I may go out of my way to see this one.)

Battle: Los Angeles. What looks to be a standard war movie only with the twist that we're pitted against aliens. (I'm not entirely convinced that this will be good, especially after I was supremely let down with Skyline, but I'll give it a shot if only for the awesome action.)

Name 7 Michael Cera:
Juno, Superbad, Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist, Year One, Paper Heart, Youth in Revolt, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Michael Cera was in Scott Pilgrim vs The World with Mary Elizabeth Winstead who was in Die Hard 4 with Bruce Willis who was in 12 Monkeys with Brad Pitt who was in Sleepers with Kevin Bacon: 4 steps.

Kristen Bell

DVDs out today

A-Team - A commando team is framed and breaks out of jail to take vengeance. (Bradley Cooper is shirtless and there are explosions. The end.)

Despicable Me - An evil genius adopts three little girls for a scam and ends up actually caring for them. (This movie is super cute and pleasantly funny. A winner.)

Nanny McPhee Returns - A mother must deal with her unruly children and calls upon Nanny McPhee to teach them valuable lessons. (Again, super cute and uplifting. Plus Maggie Gyllenhaal is awesome.)

The Other Guys - A mismatched partnership of police officers take on a bunch of bad guys. (This movie was beyond hilarious and I didn't expect any less from Will Ferrell. Plus Marky-Mark is still really hot and kind of funny.)

This is for you Michael Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
When in Rome. A woman accidentally uses Roman magic to make a bunch of dudes fall in love with her. (Kind of her first leading role, Bell holds her own and is pretty funny. Also, Josh Duhamel is really, really hot.)

Movies to see:
A-Team, Despicable Me, Nanny McPhee Returns, The Other Guys, When in Rome

Trailers of the post: Comedies

Hall Pass. A bunch of married dudes are allowed to date other ladies without penalty from their wives. (This movie is either disgusting or funny. I can't decide which.)

Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Fanboys, Couples Retreat, Astro Boy, When in Rome, You Again, Burlesque.

Jennifer Aniston Part 2

Movies out today

The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader - Those kids get sucked through a picture and end up in a world where Jesus is a Lion. (As nuts as these plots are, they end up being decent movies so I figure I'll probably see it.)

The Tourist - Johnny Depp gets roped into Angelina Jolie's twisted spy-games. (Unlike Brad Pitt, he was able to get through the filming without getting tangled up in her vagina-games.)

Agelessly Beautiful Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Love Happens. Aaron Eckhart is a self-help author who falls for a quirky florist but cannot get over his own issues. (This movie is cute and Jen Aniston's character is awesome and who doesn't love Aaron Eckhart? Seriously, he's beyond cool.)

Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Tourist, Love Happens

Trailers of the post: Actions

I Am Number 4. An alien boy must avoid an evil alien race bent on destroying him, but ends up making friends and falling in love to make everything more difficult. (This was a really good book and I can't wait for the next installment and the movie looks beyond awesome. Oh, and Timothy Olyphant! Duh!)

The Eagle. A man must hunt down a golden eagle emblem to restore his family's name and solve the mystery of it and his father's disappearance. (I like both Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell, but I'm not feeling this one.)

Robin Williams 2

DVDs out today

Inception - Leo DiCaprio heads a team of thieves who operate by stealing secrets from people's dreams. (Honestly, it took me a few moments to come up with that description and I'm still not sure it is entirely correct. But what I do know is this movie is awesome, even if you aren't completely sure what the hell is going on.)

Salt - Angelina Jolie is accused of being a spy for Russia and must race against her former CIA coworkers to prove her innocence. (It wasn't as predictable as I thought it would be and I was mildly surprised to find I liked it. I would recommend seeing it at least once. You don't be disappointed.)

Shrek Forever After - Shrek goes through an It's a Wonderful Life moment and wakes up in a world where he was never born to find that it's completely insane without him. (I never got to see it in theaters so I'm putting it at the top of my queue and eagerly waiting by the mailbox until I have it!)

Crazy Man Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Jumanji. Two pre-teens play a board game that comes to life with all the dangers that go along with it. (I know it's not really underrated, at least it shouldn't be, but this movie is beyond awesome and just thinking about it makes me wanna watch it!)

Movies to see:
Inception, Salt, Shrek Forever After, Jumanji

Trailers of the post: More Dramas

The Roommate. A girl's college roommate is nuts and tries to take over her life. (This looks pretty stupid but I'm not going to let Diana see it in case she gets any ideas...)

Jane Eyre. A girl is sent to live with a jerk who has a crazy wife locked upstairs and somehow she falls in love. (I wasn't a huge fan of this book to begin with and now it looks like the movie's going to be just as creepy. I guess that's a good thing that they are adapting it so well, but I'm still not a fan.)

Name 7 more Robin Williams:

Michelle Trachtenberg

Movies out today

Black Swan - Natalie Portman takes on the lead role in a ballet and also a lot of pressure and what looks like hallucinations. (This movie looks super creepy and a little too weird for me. But Diana wants to see it so I'll probably be tricked into seeing it.)

The Warrior's Way - A rogue ninja stumbles across a carnival in the Wild Wild West just as all the other ninjas chasing him catch up. (Cowboys and ninjas. I'm sold.)

"Looks Just Like My Cousin Molly" Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Eurotrip. A group of friends embark on an international adventure so that one boy can hunt down his hot pen pal. (This movie is beyond hilarious. There is nothing that beats "Scotty doesn't know" and "Worst twins ever!" Classic!)

Movies to see:
The Warrior's Way, Eurotrip

Trailers of the post: Dramas

Every Day. Liev Schreiber has a bit of a mid-life crisis while juggling his home-life and the new hottie at work. (I pretty much love everyone that's in this film and, even though it looks a tad predictable, I can't wait to see it.)

Frankie and Alice. Halle Berry has a multiple personality disorder and the one that doesn't belong is a crazy white chick. (This movie looks dramatic and alluring and the possibility of being hilarious. Although I doubt it will be because The Wayans Brothers aren't behind it.)

Name 7 Michelle Trachtenberg:
Inspector Gadget, Black Christmas, EuroTrip, Harriet the Spy, 17 Again, Ice Princess, Cop Out.
