Michelle Rodriguez

Movies out Friday

Conan the Barbarian - Some lame dude kills people and stuff. (Yeah, I don't really care...)

Fright Night - A vampire moves in next door to a high-school kid and he needs to save his town. (What I love most about this movie is Colin Farrell is the vampire and his name is Jerry. My second favorite things are Anton Yelchin and David Tennant! Yay!)

One Day - 20 years of a friendship is shown in only one day per year on the day they met. (This has been the most difficult movie to do a one-line summary on, but I don't care because I know it's going to be worth it. Love Jim Sturgess!!)

Spy Kids: All the Time in the World - Two little kids find out their step-mom is a spy and the whole family has to save the world from Jeremy Piven. (If only this were a true story and Jeremy Piven really wasn't around anymore...)

DVDs out today

The Beaver - Mel Gibson loses his shit and starts talking through a dirty beaver hand puppet that he finds in a dumpster. (Based on a true story.)

Win Win - Paul Giamatti helps a semi-homeless kid get back into school and win a wrestling tournament. (I didn't see it, but it looks pretty decent. Paul Giamatti is pretty much the man.)

Sassy Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Blue Crush. A girl must struggle to win a surfing competition, but is distracted with family and friend drama. (This is a favorite from back in the day, but I loved Michelle Rodriguez in it because she's sassy without being a total bitch. Even though she's pretty awesome when she's a bitch, too.)

Movies to see:
Fright Night, One Day, Spy Kids 4, Win Win, Blue Crush

Trailers of the post: Depressing

Warrior. Two brothers down on their luck end up fighting each other in a big championship or something. (I can't decide if I want to see this. Because either way it's going to be depressing, but it could end up being inspirational. I just don't think it was geared toward my type of audience...)

I Don't Know How She Does It. A woman is the bread-winner for her husband and two kids and starts to lose sight of being a mother/wife. (This is supposed to be a comedy, but the trailer just makes me sick to my stomach. It looks way too depressing to be funny...)

Name 7 Michelle Rodriguez:
Bloodrayne, Blue Crush, The Fast and The Furious, Resident Evil, Avatar, Machete, Battle: Los Angeles

Kevin Bacon Game:
Michelle Rodriguez was in Battle: Los Angeles with Aaron Eckhart who was in Love Happens with Jennifer Aniston who was in Picture Perfect with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps

Oliver Platt

Movies out Friday

30 Minutes or Less - Two idiots kidnap a pizza delivery boy, strap a bomb to his chest, and force him to rob a bank for them. (I love all the actors in this movie. It is bound to be ridiculously hilarious!)

Final Destination 5 - A dude has a vision that a bridge will collapse so he saves a bunch of people, but then Death comes back and most likely kills them all. (These movies are pretty terrible acting-wise, but the cool ways they kill people is funny and the gore is so stupid it's awesome. So, yes, I'm going to see it.)

Glee: 3D Concert Movie - If you didn't get a ticket to the concert in real life, slap on some 3D glasses and watch in fear as Rachel's mouth tries to eat you. (Oh, and it's only out for two weeks so get on it! Not...)

DVDs out Today

The Conspirator - A period piece about the aftermath of Abe Lincoln's assassination and the people behind it. (There are some pretty amazing actors in this and it looked vaguely interesting.)

Priest - In a post-apocalyptic world where vampire-like monsters and people with extraordinary abilities fend them off. (The story needs a little work, but the special effects and action were pretty awesome.)

Something Borrowed - A woman is in love with her best friend's fiance and when he admits he feels the same way, the proverbial shit hits the fan. (This was a pretty decent chick flick. Mostly because I love Ginnifer Goodwin and John Krasinski, but I really don't like Kate Hudson.)

Goofy Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Three to Tango. An architect falls in love with a client's girlfriend and is mistaken for being gay. (As much as I love Matthew Perry, Oliver Platt really did steal the movie in this one. He is beyond hilarious.)

Movies to see:
30 Minutes or Less, Final Destination 5, The Conspirator, Priest, Something Borrowed

Trailers of the post

Straw Dogs. A couple is harassed in the backwoods somewhere causing the normally reserved man to show his inner-manliness. (As much as I love Alexander Skarsgard, I'm always rooting for James Marsden to get the girl. He's the epitome of an underdog.)

Drive. A Hollywood stuntman moonlights as a wheelman for criminals and when a heist goes wrong he finds himself the target of all the action. (Ryan Gosling is a babe and I really love Carey Mulligan. So this looks like a winner.)

Casanova, Three Musketeers, Flatliners, Three to Tango, Don't Say a Word, Martian Child, Year One

Kevin Bacon Game:
Oliver Platt was in Flatliners with Kevin Bacon: 1 step

John Malkovich

Movies out Friday

The Change-Up - Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman accidentally switch bodies. (In other words, it's Freaky Friday only probably way more dirty and hilarious.)

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - The prequel to all the movies showing just how they became smart and take over the planet. (I was coerced into seeing this movie and I can tell you right now that it was NOT worth it. Just watch the previews, they pretty much tell you how it all happened in the 2.5 minutes. Everything else is just filler and stupid.)

DVDs out Today

Paul - Two uber-nerds come across an actual alien on their way across the country and have to help him get home. (This movie was pretty freaking hilarious and I highly recommend it. Kristen Wiig and Simon Pegg are my favorites!)

Super - A man loses his wife to Kevin Bacon and decides to become a super-hero. (I'm not exactly sure I have the plot right, but all I do know is it has Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, and Kevin Bacon in it and that's all you need to know too!)

Your Highness - A medieval adventure with tons of drugs and penis jokes. (It was pretty hilarious and mildly disgusting at times. I just love Danny McBride. And Natalie Portman in a raunchy movie? Hilarious.)

Kinda Weird in a Good Way Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Con Air. A group of convicts hijack a transport plane and one man goes up against them to save the day. (This is one of those movies that when you see it on TV you just have to sit and watch it. It's so freaking good! And John Malkovich wasn't weird like he is now-a-days. He was just downright awesome.)

Movies to see:
The Change-Up, Paul, Super, Your Highness, Con Air

Trailers of the post: Dramas

Main Street. A small town is turned upside-down by the arrival of a stranger bent on making things "better". (I haven't quite decided on this one. It could be really touching or it could be really boring. British dramas have a tendency to be both so we'll see.)

Contagion. A radical new virus sweeps the world and people freak out. (No thanks. I'd rather just keep being ignorant of this threat instead of watching Hollywood A-Listers act out the end of the world.)

Name 7 John Malkovich:
Eragon, Being John Malkovich, Con Air, Of Mice and Men, Art School Confidential, Burn After Reading, Changling

Kevin Bacon Game:
John Malkovich was in Burn After Reading with Brad Pitt who was in Sleepers with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Logan Lerman

Movies out Friday

Cowboys & Aliens - Aliens come to harvest our planet and steal/study/kill humans in this Wild West action flick. (This movie was surprisingly awesome. I mean, I knew it would be, but the title led me to believe it might be on the comedic side. But it wasn't. It's was a serious action-packed movie and it was really, REALLY cool!)

Crazy, Stupid, Love - A man's wife leaves him and he is taken under the wing of a lady's man to get his mojo back. (I L-O-V-E-D this movie! It was funny and serious and adorable all in one! Plus, the ending is completely shocking! Not even I could have predicted it!)

The Smurfs - The little blue guys (and girl) are somehow sent to the real world where they teach NPH about family values and try to outrun Gargamel. (I wasn't very big into the cartoon as a small child, but this movie looks mildly entertaining. Plus, it has NPH!)

DVDs out Today

Rio - A rare bird is captured and he has to learn how to fly to get back home. (Not really interested, but maybe someday...)

Soul Surfer - Based on the true story of a young girl who loses her arm in a shark attack and must have the courage to head back out into the surf. (Now this one I wanted to see, but never got around to it. It's a Netflix-er for sure.)

Barely Legal Dreamboat Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Meet Bill. A man who hates his job and his cheating wife mentors a young teen who ends up teaching him rather than the other way around. (This is the movie where I discovered LL. He was 15 at the time. I'm disgusting. But he was snarky and cute and sarcastic and awesome. I still maintain that I didn't fall in love with him until he turned 18. I swear...)

Movies to see:
Cowboys & Aliens, Crazy Stupid Love, The Smurfs, Soul Surfer, Meet Bill

Trailers of the post: Utterly Ridiculous

A Good Old Fashioned Orgy. A group of ADULTS decide to throw one last party and the theme is an orgy. (I'm both offended and intrigued. There's some pretty decent actors and it looks hilarious, but at the same time it could be really, REALLY gross if they let it. I'm going to hope they don't...)

Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star. A guy discovers that his parents were both Porn stars and he decides to become one too. (Now I love Nick Swardson, but I don't love him this much. Gross...)

Name 7 Logan Lerman:
Meet Bill, Hoot, Gamer, My One and Only, Number 23, 3:10 to Yuma, Percy Jackson

Kevin Bacon Game:
Logan Lerman was in My One and Only with Kevin Bacon: 1 step
