James Franco

Movies out Thursday/Friday

Sex and the City 2 - It was way better than I expected it to be. The cliche plot in the previews is actually only a small portion of the film which is great. Still not convinced? Picture this: Liza Minnelli singing/dancing to Beyonce's Single Ladies. Go now!

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - Hunky Jake Gyllenhaal with a silly British accent doing ridiculous stunts. Heck yes.

Sultry, Sexy Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Tristan and Isolde. A really cute period-piece/Arthurian story. The original myth is great and so is the adaptation and James Franco doesn't hurt things either. Tragic love stories are awesome.

Movies to see:
Sex and the City 2, Prince of Persia, and Tristan and Isolde.

Trailers of the post: Hilarious Comedies

Easy A. I really like Emma Stone and this movie looks awesome. Embracing slutty-ness can be hilarious especially when you're not actually a slut. Winner.

Going the Distance. There's nothing better than Drew Barrymore and Justin Long. Nothing. This is an instant classic.

Name 7 James Franco:
Nights in Rodanthe, Tristan and Isolde, Flyboys, Pineapple Express, Milk, Spiderman, Date Night.

Kevin Bacon Game:
James Franco was in Milk with Sean Penn who was in Mystic River with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

a. Pineapple Express
b. Flyboys
c. Annapolis
d. Spiderman 3

Carey Elwes

DVDs out Tuesday

Dear John - Unless you're a fan of Sparks' books, I would pass. It's nothing to write home about (except the opening scene with Channing Tatum walking out of the ocean shirtless. That was awesome).

True Blood: Season 2 - One of the greatest shows ever. It's Twilight with the comedy and sex that is so desperately lacking in the series.

Freaking Love Him Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
The Princess Bride. I can't believe that I am still coming across people who either haven't seen it or didn't like it. Are you serious? It is one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. People say it's simple or silly, but that it was makes it awesome! Where's your inner-child that yearns for excitement, pirates, sword fights, and true love?

Movies to see:
True Blood and The Princess Bride.

Trailers of the post: Cool

The Adjustment Bureau. I'm not a big fan of Matt Damon but I am a huge fan of Emily Blunt and interesting stories. Luckily the latter outweighs the former.

Jonah Hex. Looks a little hokey, but I'd be willing to see it just for the action (maybe not for the Megan Fox, but oh well).

Name 7 Cary Elwes:
Saw, Georgia Rule, Liar Liar, The Princess Bride, Quest for Camelot, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Kiss the Girls.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Cary Elwes was in Twister with Bill Paxton who was in Apollo 13 with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Part 2

Movies out Friday

MacGruber - I know it's ridiculous, but I really wanna see this movie. It looks horrible. I can't wait!

Shrek Forever After - Super-predictable plot and ridiculous humor. Sounds like a great movie.

Beyond Beautiful Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Romeo + Juliet. I really enjoyed this movie. I like it when Shakespeare is put into a context I can relate to. And this one still had the original language. Plus Leo DiCaprio and Claire Danes are really great.

Movies to see:
MacGruber, Shrek Forever After, and Romeo + Juliet.

Trailers of the post: Kiddie movies

Sherk Forever After. See above.

Ramona and Beezus. Not that interested in the story, but there are some cool/hot adult actors so it's a definite maybe.

Name 7 Leonardo DiCaprio:
Romeo + Juliet, Blood Diamond, Body of Lies, Catch Me if You Can, Man in the Iron Mask, Revolutionary Road, Shutter Island.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Leo DiCaprio was in Catch Me if You Can with Tom Hanks who was in Apollo 13 with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Quote Quiz #167: name this Leo DiCaprio movie:
"Two little mice fell into a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned, but the second mouse, he struggled so hard that he eventually churned that cream into butter and walked out. Amen."

d. Catch Me if You Can

Kevin Costner

Movie out Friday the 14th

TiMER - I forgot to mention this one last week. It look really funny! Here, look:

DVDs out Tuesday

Extraordinary Measures - The half of me that doesn't want to see this movie is currently over-powering the half of me that does. However, on a day when I think I need a good cry, you can bet your ass that I'll be watching this one.

Invictus - I've only recently become interested in biopics and, unfortunately, I haven't completely succumbed. So this movie just looks boring. (It may have something to do with my aversion to Matt Damon, but who knows?)

The Spy Next Door - I never got around to seeing it in theaters, but this could be a fun "nothing to do and nothing else to watch" kind of movie.

Valentine's Day - Much unlike the other DVDs out this week, I will be putting this on my Netflix and watching it relatively soon. There's just too much star-power in this chick flick for me to ignore.

The Drama King's Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Waterworld. I used to watch this movie every summer at my grandparents' house until the day when the VHS tape was too worn out. So I bought it on DVD! It's a classic and whether or not it's terrible is beside the point. It's great no matter what.

Movies to see:
TiMER, Extraordinary Measures, The Spy Next Door, Valentine's Day, and Waterworld.

Trailers of the post: Teen Dramas.

Cherrybomb. Yes, that is Rupert Grint of Harry Potter fame. It seems he's taking the classier route of trying to get rid of his kid-movies typecasting. While Daniel Radcliffe is prancing around on stage in the nude, Rupert Grint is doing drugs and chicks. Well done, sir. Well done.

Beastly. I'm absolutely ashamed to say that I want to see this. It has everything to do with Vanessa Hudgins being in it. She's a big loser, but this movie looks to have potential.

Charlie St. Cloud. I am proud to say that I do not want to see this movie. While Zac Efron is higher on the list than his girlfriend, this movie does not have any appeal to me. It seems predictable and a little on the depressing side.

Name 7 Kevin Costner:
Waterworld, Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, The Untouchables, Rumor Has It, JFK.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Kevin Costner was in JFK with Kevin Bacon: 1 step.

Quote Quiz #165 winner:
Katie with Date Night! Fantastic movie. Just as funny as I knew it would be.

QQ #166: name this Kevin Costner movie:
"Nobility is not a birthright. It's defined by one's actions."

a. Robin Hood Prince of Thieves
b. Waterworld
c. Dances with Wolves
d. Wyatt Earp

Steve Carell

Movies out Friday

Just Wright - Although this movie looks really predictable, I kind of want to see it. I like Queen Latifah. Who doesn't?

Letters to Juliet - I'm making Diana take me to see this tomorrow! I'm super excited!!

Robin Hood - I don't want to see this for two reasons: I don't really like Russell Crowe and there are no hunky dudes in this movie.

Hilarious Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Anchorman. I don't think everyone is aware of how amazing this movie really is. Watch it again. The one-liners are a-plenty.

Movies to see:
Just Wright, Letters to Juliet, and Anchorman.

Trailers of the post: Comedy

Dinner for Schmucks. I know it looks ridiculous, but it also looks hilarious.

Wild Target. British comedies are the greatest. I dare you to say different.

Name 7 Steve Carell:
Get Smart, 40 year old Virgin, Dan in Real Life, Anchorman, Sleepover, Evan Almighty, Date Night.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Steve Carell was in Little Miss Sunshine with Greg Kinnear who was in As Good as it Gets with Jack Nicholson who was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.

Kristina with Sweeney Todd!

QQ #165: name this Steve Carell movie:

a. Date Night
b. Little Miss Sunshine
c. Anchorman
d. 40 year old Virgin

Helena Bonham Carter

Movies out Friday the 7th

Babies - Pretty much the greatest documentary I can imagine: a movie all about babies! I can't wait to see it!

Iron Man 2 - Just as awesome as the first! Even with Scarlett Johansson... And Don Cheadle is great and even Mickey Rourke was cool. I like it, I like it a lot.

DVDs out Tuesday

Daybreakers - This was a pretty cool movie. The story was interesting and the acting was great. Willem Dafoe was awesome as always.

Edge of Darkness - A dumb movie with Mel Gibson.

Legion - I need this. I'm going to the store right now!

Ridiculously Awesome Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Conversations with Other Women. This movie is relatively unknown, but it is really a great look at human nature and the volatile relationship between men and women. She stars alongside Aaron Eckhart who is equally awesome. But watch out, there's tons of sex/nudity.

Movies to see:
Babies, Iron Man 2, Daybreakers, Legion, and Conversations with Other Women.

Trailers of the post: Amazing Dramas

Twelve. Some serious drama, but I can't help but wanting to see it. Tortured Chase Crawford full of angst and hottness. Heck yes.

The Kids are All Right. This looks simultaneously dramatic and hilarious. I love Mark Ruffalo and Julianne Moore.

Kisses. Looks to be a really moving and intense drama, but from the eyes of small children. The innocence coupled with the dangers of the world looks really great.

Name 7 HBC:
Sweeney Todd, Corpse Bride, Harry Potter 5, Conversations with Other Women, Hamlet, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

Kevin Bacon Game:
HBC was in Fight Club with Brad Pitt who was in Sleepers with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Adrien Brody

I know I'm behind, just settle down.

Movies out Friday the 30th

Nightmare on Elm Street - Whoever thought it was a good idea to remake these ridiculous movies was sadly mistaken. However, now that it has begun, we have to deal with about 100 more remake sequels. Boo.

Furry Vengeance - Alas, I've hit that moment in life where stupid kids movies are sounding less appealing. I think it's because I turned 22. What a terrible day!

DVDs out Tuesday the 4th

Leap Year - A definite winner. I love Amy Adams and Matthew Goode. What a great combination and what a great movie!

Nine - I never got to see it in theaters so I'm gonna add it to Netflix. However, I did hear a not-so-wonderful review from my resident musical-loving friend which gave me doubts. Hence waiting til it was out on DVD.

Tooth Fairy - Negative.

Beautiful Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
The Jacket. This is the movie that made me fall in love with Adrien Brody and it has only gotten better from there. His acting is amazing and I think the best part is how unassuming he always his. His features are very mellow, his eyes are beautiful, and, the best part, his voice is so odd. You wouldn't expect such a soft voice to come out of a tall, manly man. Love! (The movie is also awesome. The story and cinematography is great as well as the acting from Kiera Knightley and Kris Kristofferson.)

Movies to see:
Leap Year, Nine, and The Jacket.

Trailers of the post

Predators. Well there are 4 Alien movies, why shouldn't Predators keep up? Don't they always win in those stupid AvP movies? I think this is the 3rd so we can keep expecting awesome action. Great! (start at 45 secs)

The Expendables. Who doesn't love old guys duking it out? And did anyone else catch the short-Asian joke in the trailer? Awesome.

Name 7 Adrien Brody:
Cadillac Records, The Pianist, Darjeeling Limited, The Jacket, King Kong, Brothers Bloom, Fantastic Mr Fox.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Adrien Brody was in Darjeeling Limited with Owen Wilson who was in Marley & Me with Jennifer Aniston who was in Picture Perfect with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.
