Malin Akerman

DVDs out Yesterday

Beastly - A hot jerk is transformed into a ugly jerk until he learns not to be a jerk and finds some chick to fall in love with him. (I kid you not, the best part of this movie was Mary-Kate Olsen. She was great, but not even her or NPH could save this one...)

Season of the Witch - Some knights or whatever have to transfer a witch somewhere to kill her or something. (As you can tell, I did some hefty research on this film and still couldn't find the energy to give it a proper summary.)

Sucker Punch - Some chicks in a mental institution plan their escape using fantasy or something. (All in all, this movie was really confusing. The cinematography was epic, but even with cool special effects the audience still needs to understand what the hell is going on...)

Movies out Today

Transformers 3 - Humans align themselves with Decepticons who come out of nowhere and start taking over the planet. (That is all I could glean of the plot line in between clips of explosions, Shia screaming, and shots of that blonde girl with her mouth hanging open. But, really, who needs a plot line with all those explosions?! Can't wait!)

Blonde-Haired, Blue-Eyed Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
HappyThankYouMorePlease. A conglomeration of friends and their own stories mingle together in this heart-warming tale about love. (How's that for a summary, huh? I really loved this movie. The stories were great, the acting was amazing, and it pretty much makes you a better person after you've watched it. Also, Malin Akerman, who is really pretty, shows that she didn't get into the business on just her looks.)

Movies to see:
Transformers 3, HappyThankYouMorePlease

Trailers of the post: Great Movies

30 Minutes or Less. A regular pizza boy has a bomb strapped to his chest by some crazy customers and he must rob a bank before it goes off. (Aziz Ansari and Jesse Eisenberg look hilarious, but I was sold at Danny McBride and Nick Swardson!)

The Help. A drama about maids taking a stand against their prejudice and demeaning bosses. (Emma Stone is really cool and this movie look like a good mixture of funny and heart-warming. I'm excited.)

Emma Stone and Katie Hesser!

Movies out Today

Bad Teacher - A woman doesn't let her job teaching the world's youth, or anything else for that matter, get in her way to find a wealthy man that can support her. (I love Jason Segel and J Tim so I'm going to see this movie. Cameron Diaz is just kind of there.)

Cars 2 - Mater and Lightning McQueen travel the world in this racing/espionage sequel. (I have to admit the first one was pretty great and this one looks even better! I love Tow Mater! Hahaha)

Conan O'Brien Can't Stop - A documentary about Conan's stand-up tour after he lost his job at NBC. (As much as I dislike documentaries, this one seems slightly interesting. I'm worried it could get dark, but the happy parts look hilarious!)

Best Friend's Birthday Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Zombieland. A rag-tag group of misfits band together to survive the Zombie Apocalypse. (This movie is awesome in pretty much every way, but Emma Stone really made it hilarious. She's completely badass.)

Underrated Katie Hesser Personality Trait:
Tolerance. I mean, there is nothing about Katie Hesser that is underrated, but I have to say the part of her that means the most to me is that she is always willing to put up with my craziness. Not many people outside my family can handle it, but she does! And she laughs at pretty much everything I say. That's really great, too!

Movies to see:
Bad Teacher, Cars 2, Conan O'Brien Can't Stop, Zombieland

Trailers of the post: Katie Likes These

Real Steel. Hugh Jackman is a retired boxer in a time when robots rule the ring. (Katie love Hugh Jackman! And who doesn't? I mean, honestly, who doesn't?)

Three Musketeers. The classic tale is retold with even more intrigue and awesome-ness. (Katie love Logan Lerman! Oh wait, that's me. Never mind. But she does want to see this. That I know for sure.)

Name 7 Emma Stone:
Zombieland, House Bunny, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, The Rocker, Superbad, Paper Man, Marmaduke.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Emma Stone was in The Rocker with Rainn Wilson who was in Super with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps

Christopher Walken

DVDs out Today

The Adjustment Bureau - Matt Damon stumbles upon a group of people who control the fate of mankind. (This movie was pretty neat and it was a really interesting premise. Plus, Emily Blunt is really cool.)

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules - The sequel to last spring's kid favorite returns with more hi jinks and laughs. (I didn't see the first, but I really do love Steve Zahn. Just not enough to go see a kiddie movie that isn't animated...)

The Eagle - Channing Tatum and Jaime Bell embark on a quest to find a treasured emblem that disappeared with Channing Tatum's father. (While I love both of these actors, I wasn't really intrigued enough to see it in theaters. But I'll rent it for sure.)

Elektra Luxx - A spin off of the Indie Film Women in Trouble, Elektra Luxx is a retired porn star who is thrown into a strange mystery involving her dead boyfriend. (Carla Gugino is brilliant and there are so many awesome actors in this movie. Plus Women in Trouble was hilarious. This one looks just as great!)

HappyThankYouMorePlease - A look into the lives of a group of friends and their struggles with life, work and love. (I loved it! The acting was great and the story was amazing and it was even heart-warming! Go see it!)

Unknown - Liam Neeson gets into a car accident only to wake up and find that someone else is living his life. (This looked a little too conspiracy-y for me and even though it's fun to watch Liam Neeson beat the crap out of people, I have to say I wasn't interested. Maybe I'll rent it, but the jury's still out.)

Most Imitated Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
The Rundown. A man is forced to travel to South America to hunt down and return a mobster's treasure-hunting son. (Christopher Walken was absolutely priceless in this movie. I mean, he walks the line between funny and crazy that you wouldn't expect him to be so good at being bad. But then again, he wasn't your standard bad guy. I love it!)

Movies to see:
The Adjustment Bureau, Elektra Luxx, HappyThankYouMorePlease, The Rundown

Trailers of the post: Dumb

Rise of the Planet of the Apes. James Franco develops the drug that makes monkeys super smart and then they rebel and then they take over the planet and then some other stuff happens. (This looks ridiculous. I love James Franco, but I am not going to see this. The other movies did nothing for me, even the remake with Marky Mark. No gracias.)

Final Destination 5. A bridge collapses, but a couple people survive only to be hunted down by death. (This looks ridiculous, but in a good way! These movie are super cool and they come up with some really interesting ways to kill people. Morbid, I know, but that's just how I roll.)

Name 7 Christopher Walken:
Sleepy Hollow, The Rundown, Hairspray, Suicide Kings, Corky Romano, America's Sweethearts, True Romance

Kevin Bacon Game:

Channing Tatum

Movies out today

The Art of Getting By - A young boy and girl bond over ditching school and his drawing/painting. (This looks pretty good and I'm starting to approve of Emma Roberts. But the best part is that little Freddie Highmore kid looks the exact same as he did 6 years ago in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, only taller. So much for puberty...)

The Green Lantern - An ordinary man is chosen to be Earth's protector from a huge monster bent on its destruction and a guy with a big, misshapen head. ("Ordinary man"? I'm sorry for that. No one with Ryan Reynolds' body should be described as ordinary, fictional character or not.)

Mr Popper's Penguins - A dead-beat dad suddenly inherits the responsibility of penguins and they live with him in his apartment. (Jim Carrey can do no wrong. He can do no wrong!)

Sweet and Sexy Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
She's the Man. A girl poses as her twin brother to play on the school's soccer team. (What makes this movie great is that it was our first introduction to Channing Tatum's acting and he's really hunky and sexy, but then we discover he's really adorable too. Sexy and sensitive? Curse you, chick from Step Up that married him in real life. Curse you...)

Movies to see:
The Art of Getting By, The Green Lantern, Mr Popper's Penguins, She's the Man

Trailers of the post

The Smurfs. NPH has to deal with tiny blue creatures. (I'm not sure why Hollywood is making all of these old cartoons into movies, but I'm holding out for Johnny Bravo...)

The Change-Up. It's Freaky Friday, only with Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman. (My question is, these two characters already seem alike so what's the point? We'll just be watching Jason Bateman not know how to deal with his babies or wife... But, honestly, you had me at Ryan Reynolds.)

Name 7 Channing Tatum:
Stop Loss, She's the Man, Step Up, Fighting, Public Enemies, GI Joe: Rise of Cobra, Dear John

Kevin Bacon Game:
Channing Tatum was in Dear John with Amanda Seyfried who was in Mamma Mia! with Colin Firth who was in Where the Truth Lies with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps

QQ #271 winner:
Katie with Jingle All the Way!

QQ #272: name this Channing Tatum movie:
"Is... Is this where you kill me?"

a. She's the Man
b. Step Up
c. The Dilemma
d. The Eagle

Arnold Schwarzenegger

DVDs out today

Battle: Los Angeles - Aliens attack suddenly and the last city standing is LA. (This movie was decent at best. The actors in it were good, but not even the special effects were great. And for an action movie that's crucial. I do have to give the writers credit for making the aliens water-based lifeforms that needed our planet to survive. That was an interesting concept.)

Big Mommas: Like Father Like Son - Martin Lawrence's son witnesses some sort of crime and they have to hide out at an all girl's school. (The first one was funny, the second one was okay, but I refused to see the third. It just looks ridiculous.)

Hall Pass - Three guys get permission from their wives to have an entire week of not being married and to do whatever or whoever they want. (The concept of this film is kind of disgusting and I could go on a long rant about how more and more movies are coming out regarding adultery/cheating, but I'll save it for another time. I like the actors, but I didn't see it. That doesn't mean I won't, but chances are I probably won't.)

Red Riding Hood - A more adult version of the classic tale. (Oh, did I say "adult"? I meant, tween. It was okay, but I really disliked the lead guy which made me dislike the entire movie. However, I was kept guessing as to who the werewolf really is, so that's something.)

Politically Conscious Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Eraser. A man specializing in placing people in Witness Protection has to go above and beyond to keep one of his charges safe. (I could watch this movie over and over again and when I was little I did. It's action-packed, has James Caan, and Arnold's accent wasn't that annoying. Plus, one of the bad guy's henchmen is killed by an alligator! Oh yeah!)

Movies to see:
Eraser (really it's the only one worth watching)

Trailers of the post

Lucky. Colin Hanks wins the lottery, marries the girl of his dreams, and then starts killing people. (This. Looks. Awesome! I love Colin Hanks!)

The Guard. An Irish detective has to team up with an American FBI agent to take down some dangerous drug-smugglers. (Oh my, this looks hilarious. I love it!)

Name 7 Arnold Schwarzenegger:
Terminator, Twins, Junior, True Lies, Eraser, Collateral Damage, Commando

Sam Rockwell

Movies out today

Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer - A young girl goes to extreme lengths to make sure her summer vacation isn't a...wait for it...bummer. (I do like Heather Graham, but not enough to sit through this one...)

Super 8 - Some kids have a camera and see something weird. (Yeah, that's all the trailers so because JJ Abrams is all about mystery and intrigue and tricking people into buying tickets so they can figure out what the hell his movies are about.)

Straight Up Awesome Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Charlie's Angels. Three babes take on a bad guy bent on killing their boss. (I do genuinely like the Charlie's Angels movies, but I have to say that Sam Rockwell was the coolest bad guy. That one scene, right when we find out he's evil, where he's dancing around was the coolest bad guy intro I've ever seen. I just love it when bad guys are cooler than the good guys. It's hilarious.)

Movies to see:

Super 8, Charlie's Angels

Trailers of the post

The Devil's Double. Based on a true story, a man is forced to become the body double of Saddam Hussein's crazy son. (Normally I wouldn't have posted this, but it just looks so weird that I had to show it...)

Cowboys & Aliens. An epic battle between mankind and aliens takes place in the wild west. (Jon Favreau is quickly becoming one of my favorite directors simply because he takes ridiculous ideas and makes them into awesome movies. I love him.)

Name 7 Sam Rockwell:
Charlie's Angels, Frost/Nixon, A Midsummer Night's Dream, G-Force, Gentlemen Broncos, Everybody's Fine, Iron Man 2

Kevin Bacon Game:

Hayden Panettiere

DVDs out today

The Company Men - Ben Affleck is laid off and has to deal with the drama and hardships that go along with it. (You wouldn't think this movie has anything in it that I would like: Ben Affleck, Kevin Costner, man drama. But surprisingly this movie looks really good and I want to see it. Who knew?)

Just Go With It - Adam Sandler is a chauvinistic pig, but somehow you love him anyway. (Seriously, I don't know how such a disgusting plot turned into such a funny and heart-warming movie. Kudos, Sandler. Kudos.)

True Grit - A young girl must enlist a crazy bounty hunter to find the man that killed her father. (I didn't get the chance to see this in theaters, but it looked pretty good. Plus, Matt Damon as a cowboy? This I have to see...)

Save the Goodies, Save the World

Underrated movie of the post:
Scream 4. High Schoolers are plagued by the return of Ghostface. (While I really don't like scary movies, I kind of enjoyed this one because it was funny when it wasn't completely terrifying. Also, Hayden Panettiere was really awesome in it. She's sassy.)

Movies to see:
Company Men, Just Go With It, True Grit, Scream 4

Trailers of the post

Salvation Boulevard. A beloved television pastor commits murder and blames it on poor Greg Kinnear who must prove his innocence before the fundamentalist members of the church catch up to him. (I think Saved! proved that any movie about crazy religious people is hilarious and this one looks the same.)

Sarah's Key. A woman unravels a mystery involving how Jewish people were treated in France during WWII and a young girl's determination to save her little brother. (This movie looks pretty deep and powerful which makes me wary but also really, really interested.)

Name 7 Hayden Panettiere:
Bring It On: All or Nothing, Ice Princess, Remember the Titans, I Love You Beth Cooper, Alpha and Omega, Scream 4, Hoodwinked Too

Eva Mendes

Movies out today

Love, Wedding, Marriage - A young woman must deal with her new marriage and trying to fix her parents' dying one. (I have a huge lady-crush on Mandy Moore and I'm intrigued to see Kellan Lutz do something other than sparkle in the sun. I vote yes.)

X-Men: First Class - A prequel centered around Magneto and Professor X when they were still Eric and Charles. (I don't care if the plot line was Magneto and Professor X were strippers in Vegas, I'm going to see this movie and I'm going to LOVE it!)

Disgustingly Beautiful Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
The Other Guys. Two bumbling cops with issues struggle to solve a mystery. (As if Mark Wahlberg and Will Farrell weren't enough, Eva Mendes really held her own during this movie. She was absolutely hilarious as Will's unappreciated perfect wife.)

Movies to see:
Love Wedding Marriage, X-Men: First Class, The Other Guys

Trailers of the post

A Little Help. A woman must cope with the sudden loss of her husband and all the responsibility it entails. (This looks REALLY good and I love Jenna Fischer. Color me excited!)

Conan O'Brien Can't Stop. A documentary about the man after he lost his TV show. (I'm not one for documentaries, but I love me some Conan. I'm just afraid it will get a little too dark and he won't be the same to me in the end...)

Name 7 Eva Mendes:
Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Hitch, Ghost Rider, The Spirit, We Own the Night, The Other Guys, 2 Fast 2 Furious

Kevin Bacon Game:
Eva Mendes was in The Other Guys with Mark Wahlberg who was in The Departed with Jack Nicholson who was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps

QQ #265-267 winner:
Me! I won them all with He's Just Not That Into You, Jack Frost, and The 40 Year Old Virgin.

3-in-1: Scarlett Johansson, Michael Keaton, Jane Lynch

DVDs out 5/24

Gnomeo & Juliet - Shakespeare's classic play is redone with garden gnomes. (Seriously? I mean, I dislike Shakespeare, but who's idea was it to do this? Why? Just...why?)

I Am Number Four - An alien teenager has to fend off other mean aliens while also dealing with hormones and angst. (The book was far better and the movie took some extreme liberties, but it was still a pretty great movie. I highly recommend it.)

Movies out 5/27

The Hangover Part II - The guys travel to Thailand for Stu's wedding and it all happens again. (I didn't think it was possible, but this movie was way more disgusting and appalling than the first. And I loved every minute of it!)

Kung Fu Panda 2 - Po must fend off an evil peacock. (Yeah, these movies weren't really made for plot lines, but they're hilarious and I plan on seeing it.)

DVDs out 5/31

Drive Angry 3D - Nicolas Cage must break out of Hell to avenge his daughter's death and save her baby from a madman. (What? How could this gem of a movie have already gone to DVD? I'm shocked. I hope this doesn't upset Nicolas Cage's chance for an Oscar...)

Not-So-Awesome, Pretty Awesome, and Super Awesome Goodies

Underrated movies of the post:
Eight-Legged Freaks. A small town in Arizona is overrun by giant, mutated spiders. (Despite my phobia, I really liked this movie. Mostly because David Arquette is the last person anyone would expect to save people from giant spiders. I love that man.)
Multiplicity. A man stumbles upon cloning and things get out of hand. (I really liked this movie when I was little. I'm not sure why, but it was one of my favorites. But I do love Michael Keaton. A lot.)
Role Models. Two guys have to spend time with some little kids as part of their community service. (Jane Lynch was pretty much the best part of this movie. She walks the line between ridiculous and even more ridiculous and stole every scene she was in. It was her pre-gaming to Sue Sylvester, only dirtier.)

Trailers of the post

Friends with Benefits. Two friends are sick of relationships so they decide to have emotionless sex with each other. (Justin Timberlake is super sexy, Mila Kunis is awesome, and the trailer looks hilarious. I just hope these are all the funny parts and I also hope it doesn't get too sappy/romantic in the end... As Michael Till will tell you, there is nothing worse than a comedy turning into a chick flick. See: Zach and Miri Make a Porno.)

Harry Potter 7.2. The epic conclusion of the series is here! (I'm pretty pumped for this. And not only because I'm kind of tired of it all. I mean, it's been a long 14 years and it's finally time to put Harry to rest... But this movie looks freaking amazing!)
