Catherine Zeta-Jones and Hank Azaria

DVDs out Tuesday (20th)

The Losers - Holy crap I love this movie! I'm going to buy it as soon as I get back from vacation and I am going to watch it every freaking day.

The Runaways - Kristin Stewart and Dakota Fanning star in this biopic and apparently it was pretty good. I never bothered with it because Kristin Stewart has a knack of ruining everything she touches. But then again, when you're at the bottom the only way you can go is up (unless of course you have a shovel).

Movies out Friday (23rd)

Ramona and Beezus - I kind of want to see this even though it's for kids. There are actually a lot of great adult actors in it and a few of my favorites. If only I can convince one of my friends to go with me... Fat chance.

Salt - Angelina Jolie kicking ass and taking names. This should be a remarkably new character for her to play. I'm intrigued. (And just in case you couldn't tell, that was all said with a heavy layer of sarcasm).

Beautiful and Funny Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
America's Sweethearts. This is the movie that made me fall in love with both Catherine Zeta-Jones and Hank Azaria. Both are hilarious in their own way: Catherine Zeta-Jones as a high-strung, narcissistic, mental-case and Hank Azaria's awesome lisp. And these two are only pieces of the comedy puzzle. This entire movie is great!

Movies to see:
The Losers, Ramona and Beezus, Salt, and America's Sweethearts.

Trailers of the post: Zach Galifianakis

Luke Wilson Squared

DVDs out Tuesday (13th)

The Bounty Hunter - This movie had its funny moments, but it's definitely not one I plan on buying. Plus, Gerard Butler is only hot with his accent.

The Greatest - I really wanted to see this but it never came to AZ!!! Now it's on Instant Queue and I'm going to watch it asap. I know that it's going to be amazing. I just know it!!

Our Family Wedding - There's nothing like a heart-warming family comedy based on two races that cannot get along. Yay for discrimination! Stupid.

Movies out Friday (16th)

Inception - I'm super excited about this movie. I still have only a vague idea of what it is about, but that doesn't really matter. What does matter? Leo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, and crazy awesome special effects!!

Adorably Hot Goodies

Underrated movies of the post:
Henry Poole is Here. I doubt many of you have seen this movie, but I have to say that it was very VERY good. It wasn't in theaters that I know of (it may have been limited to LA/NY) but when I got it on Netflix I was pleasantly surprised. I suggest you watch the trailer and decide for yourself. but know that I will give you more cool points if you see it and appreciate it as I do.
My Super Ex-Girlfriend. I know this movie is really really awful, but it had some pretty hilarious parts and Eddie Izzard is in it. Who needs more than that on a lazy Sunday afternoon?

Movies to see:
The Greatest, Inception, Henry Poole is Here, and My Super Ex-Girlfriend.

Trailers of the post: Dramas that could be cute?

Somewhere. The plot isn't really defined in this trailer. It's just a montage of stuff. But I get the sense that it's about a father-daughter relationship and I'm down for that. I like heart-warming stories about bad guys who end up being good dads.

Jack Goes Boating. I'm not a big fan of Philip Seymour Hoffman, but this movie has potential. Also, he directs which could bring up his cool level if it turns out to be any good.

Name 14 Luke Wilson:
Bottle Rocket, Home Fries, Anchorman, Legally Blonde, Family Stone, Henry Poole is Here, Charlie's Angels, Vacancy, The Big Bounce, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Blue Streak, Royal Tenenbaums, Old School, Battle for Terra.

Kevin Bacon Game (twice):
Luke Wilson was in Charlie's Angels with Lucy Liu who was in Chicago with Queen Latifah who was in Beauty Shop with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.

Jon Voight

Movies out Friday

Despicable Me - I kind of really want to see this. It looks pretty freaking adorable and there're so many great actors lending their voices. It's gonna be fantastic.

The Kids Are All Right - Beyond hilarious dramady with an all-star cast: Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, and Annette Bening. There is nothing funnier than a messed-up family dynamic.

Predators - When I first heard about this movie, I thought "Heck no." However, after seeing the cast (Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Laurence Fishburne), I'm waffling. It looks rather stupid, but the action might be cool and I love Adrien Brody/Topher Grace.

Super Creepy Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
National Treasure. So I know this movie isn't underrated, but Jon Voight's character kind of goes unnoticed with Justin Bartha's hilarity, Nic Cage's craziness, and Diane Kruger's hotness. He has a great sarcastic, "whatever you say" attitude which is subtly hilarious. I suggest you watch it again if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Movies to see:
Despicable Me, The Kids Are All Right, and National Treasure.

Trailers of the post: Stupid Comedies

Little Fockers. I pretty much despise the other two movies and cannot really explain why. I don't know if it's the unbelievable and embarrassing antics, the Ben Stiller/Robert DeNiro dynamic, or just Ben Stiller, but whatever it is it is keeping me from going to see this.

Vampires Suck. I think this movie is redundant. Making a movie that makes fun of the Twilight movies are unnecessary because no one can watch the actual movies without laughing at how stupid it is.

Name 7 Jon Voight:
Tomb Raider, Holes, Transformers, Mission Impossible, National Treasure, Anaconda, End of the Game.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Jon Voight was in Mission Impossible with Tom Cruise who was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

3. Katie - 38
4. Me - 21

QQ #181: name this Jon Voight movie:
"Yes, but he's, you know, a little strange. He's a little strange."

a. Holes
b. National Treasure 2
c. Transformers
d. Four Christmases

Gabrielle Union

DVDs out Tuesday

A Single Man - I am a huge fan of Julianne Moore and Colin Firth and they were both nominated for various awards for their roles. Also, Matthew Goode is in it and we all know he's a hunky hunky dude.

Brooklyn's Finest - I heard that this movie was supposed to be really good. I may see it and I may not. I'll leave it up to fate.

Kind of Gorgeous Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Bring It On. I loved this movie when I was a wee teenager and I still love it, although for different reasons. What was hilarious and kind of relatable is still hilarious and just plain ridiculous. And who doesn't love those catchy cheers? I still know a few!

Movies to see:
A Single Man, Brooklyn's Finest, and Bring It On.

Trailers of the post: Funny

Green Hornet. There is nothing funnier than Seth Rogan trying to be serious and funny at the same time. It only ends up being ridiculous.

Middle Men. There are a crap-ton of my favorite actors in this: Giovanni Ribisi, Gabriel Macht, Luke Wilson, etc. The plot looks predictable, but they make it funny. The jury's still out, but it's looking good. Real good.

Name 7 Gabrielle Union:
10 Things I Hate About You, Cadillac Records, Bad Boys 2, Deliver Us From Eva, Running With Scissors, Daddy's Little Girls, Breakin' All the Rules.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Gabrielle Union was in Bring It On with Kirsten Dunst who was in Interview with a Vampire with Brad Pitt who was in Sleepers with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.
Quote Quiz #179 winner:
Katie get in right under the wire with Jersey Girl!

QQ #180: name this Gabrielle Union movie:
"God, I hope that's not your acceptance speech."

a. 10 Things I Hate About You
b. Running With Scissors
c. Bring It On
d. She's All That

Liv Tyler

Movie out Friday

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Not being a fan of the cartoon series (or anime? Whatever) I plan on seeing it and probably enjoying it. And all the die hard fans out there can just deal with that. I like most movies, especially with cool special effects and actors/directors I like.

Subtly Awesome Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Empire Records. This movie is on my Top 5 list of any movie ever. If you haven't seen it, you need to. If you have and you didn't like it, don't bother talking to me ever again because I don't think our friendship will make it.

Movies to see:
The Last Airbender and Empire Records.

Trailers of the post: Kiddie movies

Secretariat. I love Diane Lane and John Malkovich is hilarious. I also like that this movie seems to be about women's equality and how we can do whatever the hell we want (raising fast horses included). More power to you!

Alpha and Omega. I could listen to Justin Long's nerdy-hot voice all day long. And I might.

Name 7 Liv Tyler:
Reign Over Me, Empire Records, Incredible Hulk, Armageddon, Lord of the Rings, Jersey Girl, Lonesome Jim.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Liv Tyler was in Empire Records with Renee Zellweger who was in My One and Only with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Quote Quiz #177-178 winner:
Me because no one even bothered guessing. I'm very disappointed. (#177: Lakehouse, #178: Rat Race)

QQ #179: name this Liv Tyler movie:
"Forget about what you thought you were and just accept who you are."

a. Jersey Girl
b. Reign Over Me
c. Empire Records
d. Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings
