George Clooney

Disclaimer: This post was partially written by Kristina Wiedel. And when I say "partially" I mean she sat behind me, eating grapes and making weird comments so, "not at all."

Movies out (Last) Friday
THE Final Destination - Could it be true? Will this be the end? The upcoming Saw VI tells me no. (Kristina says: God I hope so. Green grapes totally kick red grapes' ass!)

Halloween II - Yet another cinematic disappointment, but the huge line of crazies at AZ Mills' Harkins last night tells me that there will be more to come (again, see the upcoming Saw VII). (Kristina says: Oooo! If you mash up a grape in your mouth and then take a sip of water, it's kinda like wine.)

Taking Woodstock - Finally we get to a movie that's original AND has a bunch of stars I love (Demitri Martin, Liev Schreiber, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Emile Hirsch, etc). Needless to say, out of the 3, I'm going to see this one. (Kristina says: I'm out of witty grape comments.)

DVDs out Tuesday

Absolutely nothing of interest.

Supposedly Sexy Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
One Fine Day. This is one of those movies that I won't buy, but I will watch it everytime I see that it's on TV. It doesn't make any sense, but then again when have I ever? It's really cute and one of the few movies where I can actually see George Clooney's sex-appeal.

Movies to see:
Taking Woodstock and One Fine Day.

Trailers of the post: Utterly Ridiculous.
The Men Who Stare At Goats. I am so freaking excited to see this movie that I may actually pee my pants. Holy crap!

Did You Hear About the Morgans? A little reminiscent of For Richer, For Poorer, but Hugh Grant is hotter than Tim Allen. And plus, Sam Elliot is a badass.

Owen Wilson

DVDs out today

Adventureland - Terrible movie. Terrible.

Duplicity - Maybe, but only if someone goes out of their way to make me watch it. I haven't heard any fantastic reviews (not that I read reviews, but none have jumped out at me).

Fighting - See above only replace "no reviews" with "crappy reviews jumping out at me".

Sunshine Cleaning - Great movie! Rent it. Rent it now!

Funny-Faced, Funny Guy Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Behind Enemy Lines. I've never really appreciated war movies, but there are a select few that I highly enjoyed. This is one and I can't love it more! It's so good!

Movies to see:
Sunshine Cleaning and Behind Enemy Lines.

Trailers of the post: Kiddie themed.
Fantastic Mr. Fox. I'll admit that I'm probably not going to see this movie, but I'm trying to narrow down my list of trailers and this one fit nicely.

A Christmas Carol. Jim Carrey is a genius, but I'm not so sure even HE could make me sit through this movie. It's so overdone! But maybe the Christmas spirit will lift my spirits as the time draws near. (Probably not).

Name 7 Owen Wilson:
Wedding Crashers, Bottle Rocket, You Me and Dupree, Cars, Starsky and Hutch, Darjeeling Limited, Zoolander.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Owen Wilson was in Marley & Me with Jennifer Aniston who was in Picture Perfect with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Jennifer Coolidge

Movies out Friday

Inglourious Basterds - I can't freaking wait to see this movie. I am all over senseless and extreme violence so it should be vastly interesting. Plus, Brad Pitt in comedic roles is always funny. Sometimes Tarantino is iffy, but I have high hopes.

Post Grad - Alexis Bledel is cute. There's no denying it. I'll probably see it, but only because of her and her "parents" (Jane Lynch and Michael Keaton). The story looks dumb, but mildly entertaining.

Shorts - I'm not so sure I understand the plot for this movie. I know there's a rainbow rock involved that grants wishes but then sometimes there are tiny aliens. Leslie Mann is the mom and the trailer looks funny so I may hijack a small child and take them to see it.

Hilarious Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
American Pie. Despite being completely ridiculous, these movies are actually entertaining. Maybe not very entertaining, but worth seeing at least once. Just so you know all the inside jokes.

Movies to see:
Inglourious Basterds, Post Grad, Shorts and American Pie.

Trailers of the post: Ridiculous.
Gentlemen Broncos. I am not, repeat NOT, seeing this movie. It looks stupid. But it worked with the theme and now you can say that you've at least seen it when some nerdy/stupid person comes up and asks you about it.

I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell. KATIE!!!! LOOK!!!! It's Logan! We are SO going to see this movie simply because he's in it :)

Name 7 Jennifer Coolidge:
Lemony Snicket’s, Igor, Soul Men, Legally Blonde, Cinderella Story, American Pie, Click.

c. American Pie
d. Cinderella Story

Renee Zellwager

DVDs out Tuesday

Hannah Montana: The Movie - Pass.

The Last House on the Left - I never saw it, but I think I might Netflix it despite what my mom said about the original. I love Monica Potter and would love to see her kick some bad guy ass.

Pete's Dragon - I was never interested in this one. I always thought it was stupid.

Cute Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Bridget Jones' Diary. I know this movie and it's sequel are a little ridiculous, but they're cute and relatable (if you're a crazyass British chick). Plus, I fell in love with Colin Firth during these movies. He's a-freaking-dorable.

Movies to see:
The Last House on the Left and Bridget Jones' Diary.

Trailers of the post: Sappy.
My One and Only. Two words: Kevin. Bacon. Plus it has that underage boy Logan Lerman who I have a big crush on and simultaneously feel gross about.

The Boys Are Back. This looks cute. Sad, but cute.

Name 7 Renee Zellwager:
Cold Mountain, Bridget Jones’ Diary, Chicago, Leatherheads, Empire Records, White Oleander, Bee Movie.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Renee Zellwager was in Bridget Jones' Diary with Colin Firth who was in Where the Truth Lies with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Quote Quiz #98 winner:
Diana got her second win with Playing By Heart! Way to go!

QQ #99: Name this Renee Zellwager movie:
"No, he usually calls to cancel right on time..."

a. Jerry Maguire
b. Down With Love
c. Bridget Jones' Diary
d. Empire Records

Dennis Quaid, Part 2

Movies out Friday
District 9 - I'm not so sure about this one. The documentary-like previews look weird and don't provide much of a plot. I think I'll wait this one out unless someone tells me it's the greatest movie ever made.

Bandslam - This is too pre-teen for me (and that's saying something).

The Goods: Live Hard. Sell Hard. - I'm mildly entertained by the trailer and, despite Jeremy Piven's apparent DB status, I may see it. There are enough good actors to out-weigh him.

Ponyo - I have no idea what this movie is about, but I do know it's a cartoon about a little baby made from water or something. I was never into Anime so I'm not feeling this one, but it's supposed to be really good.

The Time Traveler's Wife - Oh my goodness I'm so excited to see this movie. I'm not even sure why but Kristina thinks it's the song that plays during the trailer. This is completely plausible because the song during the trailer for Nights in Rodanthe convinced me to see that abomination of a film. Hopefully, though, TTW will be a whole lot better! Yay!

Like 'Em A Lot Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Smart People. A dark comedy, yes, but still very funny. It just goes to show how versatile Dennis Quaid is as an actor. He can go from a military guy (G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra), to a down-home dad (The Rookie, Parent Trap), to a genius with a kid, crazy brother, girlfriend, and some serious issues. I would suggest this movie because everyone in it is fantastic (Sarah Jessica Parker, Thomas Hayden Church, Ellen [insert third name here] Page). Rent it!

Movies to see:
The Goods: Live Hard. Sell Hard, Time Traveler's Wife, and Smart People.

Trailers of the post: Awesome.
Legion. This is a new preview but I am so freaking excited about it that I had to post it immediately. Ho. Ly. Crap! (Post script. I love Paul Bettany!!)

Law Abiding Citizen. Another new one that looks pretty interesting. I'll admit the first few seconds looked boring, but then I got further in and found myself highly intrigued. I love movies that revolve around a ordinary-looking guy who's out for revenge and turns out to be extraordinary (see: Shooter, Con Air). I like it a lot.

Name 7 Dennis Quaid:
Yours Mine and Ours, The Alamo, In Good Company, Jaws 3, Battle for Terra, Traffic, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Dennis Quaid was in Smart People with Sarah Jessica Parker who was in Footloose with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Quote Quiz #97 winner:
Katie with Closer! I know it's kind of mean of me, but I always feel a sense of pride when I trick people with my QQs. It lets me know that sometimes I'm able to pick a hard one because with Kristina guessing them all right in a matter of minutes I feel like I'm losing my touch!

QQ #98: Name this Dennis Quaid movie:
"I'm better at all these lies I've manufactured than I am at the ones I'm living."

a. Smart People
b. In Good Company
c. Playing By Heart
d. Frequency

Jude Law

DVD out Tuesday

I Love You, Man - While this movie was funny, I have to say it wasn't as funny as Role Models. I much prefer angry and cynical Paul Rudd than weird and awkward Paul Rudd. However, Jason Segel was hilarious and it was really a good movie.

Usually Okay Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Enemy at the Gates. This is one of the few "war" movies that I will watch. It is intense and so well written! It is tragically wonderful.

Movies to see:
I Love You Man and Enemy at the Gates.

Trailers of the post:
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. Very much awaited and it looks as wonderful as I thought it would be. I can't wait!

Dorian Gray. I'm very intrigued by the story and am tossing around the idea of reading the book. It stars that hunky dude from The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Nice.

Name 7 Jude Law:
Alfie, Enemy at the Gates, Road to Perdition, The Holiday, Lemony Snicket’s, Cold Mountain, Sleuth.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Jude Law was in Cold Mountain with Nicole Kidman who was in Eyes Wide Shut with Tom Cruise who was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.

Kristina with Miss Congeniality 2!

QQ #97: Name this Jude Law movie:
"I love you, and I need a piss."

a. Alfie
b. The Holiday
c. Closer
d. Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

Sandra Bullock

Movies out Friday

A Perfect Getaway - I am most definitely going to see this one. Not only does it look intense (and a little freaky), but it stars Steve Zahn, Timothy Olyphant and Milla Jovovich. Three outstanding actors. I can't wait!

Julie & Julia - Who doesn't love a "coming of age" movie about making delicious food? I know I do!

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra - I know that this movie is going to be bad in terms of plot and probably acting, but I'm not going to see it for those things. I'm going to see it for crazy action, awesome special effects and Channing Tatum. Duh.

Paper Heart - I don't know if this movie is opening in AZ this weekend, but I really wanna see it. I love Michael Cera and it looks really cute.

Cool as Hell Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
28 Days. A classy dramady if I've ever seen one. You will not become an alch-y after seeing this one, even if there is a chance of finding a Viggo Mortensen in rehab.

Movies to see:
A Perfect Getaway, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, Julie & Julia, Paper Heart, and 28 Days

Trailers of the post:
The Blind Side. This is one of those few intense dramas that has somehow intrigued me. I wanna see it!!

The Open Road. Justin Timberlake. Nuff said. (Also I like Kate Mara a lot.)

Name 7 Sandra Bullock:
Hope Floats, Demolition Man, Miss Congeniality, Two Weeks Notice, 28 Days, Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood, While You Were Sleeping.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Sandra Bullock was in Crash with Don Cheadle who was in Ocean's 11 with Brad Pitt who was in Sleepers with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.

Quote Quiz #95 winner:
Molly with True Romance!! Such a good movie. Way to think ahead of the curve, Smolls :)

QQ #96: Name this Sandra Bullock movie:
"Okay, first of all... thank you for calling me skinny."

a. The Proposal
b. While You Were Sleeping
c. Miss Congeniality 2
d. Forces of Nature

Gary Oldman

I'm back! Did you miss me?

DVDs out Tuesday

Obsessed - I heard the only good thing about this movie was when Beyonce kicked Ali Larter's ass. However, that is not enough incentive for me to sit through the rest of the movie. Plus, I like Ali Larter. It's too bad she always plays the weirdo...

Race to Witch Mountain - I wanna see this movie! I was gonna make my family go, but then we never got around to it. I'm going to put it on my brand new Netflix queue right now!

The Soloist - While I like RDJ, I'm afraid I don't want to see this movie. It looks very good, don't get me wrong, but there is something about the intensity of the drama that turns me off. It looks too dramatic, if that makes any sense what-so-ever.

"Inability to Put Into Words How Awesome He is" Goodies

Underrated movie of the post: (How can I pick just one?)
Interstate 60. I think that this movie shows just how versatile Gary Oldman is. He can go from being a creeper (Air Force One, Lost in Space, The Fifth Element) to the guy you're pulling for (Harry Potter 3, Batman Begins) to a complete and utter crazy-ass. Which is what he is in Interstate 60. He plays a supernatural character who is half Leprechaun and half Native American (or something) who enjoys dragging unsuspecting people around alternate universes just because it amuses him. This movie also stars James Marsden and Amy Smart and it's really quite funny. I suggest it whole-heartedly.

Movies to see:
Race to Witch Mountain and Interstate 60 (and all of the other Gary Oldman movies I mentioned!!)

Trailers of the post:
The Book of Eli. This looks pretty freaking cool and the story is intriguing (which is saying something with all of the crappy or remade movies that are out).

Alice in Wonderland!!!!!

Name 7 Gary Oldman:
Batman Begins, Harry Potter 3, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Lost in Space, Air Force One, Fifth Element, Quest For Camelot.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Gary Oldman was in JFK with Kevin Bacon: 1 step.

Quote Quiz #94 winner:
Kristina steals it again with Ever After. Diana also jumps onto the scoreboard! (it was kinda a tie, but instead of halving it I decided to give them both a full point since Kristina posted and Diana answered verbally)

QQ #95: Name this Gary Oldman movie:
"They got everything here from a diddled-eyed joe to damned if I know."

a. True Romance
b. Fifth Element
c. Interstate 60
d. Lost in Space
