Owen Wilson, The Sequel

DVDs out today

Alice in Wonderland - Don't get excited, it's just the original cartoon-y one. This movie used to scare me as a child and I sincerely doubt I will buy it. I know it seems mean-spirited that I will be denying my future children a plethora of Disney movies simply because I don't like them, but if they want to see them so badly then they can grow up and get a job and buy it for themselves!

Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 - I never got to see this one seeing as all my little kid friends aren't so little anymore (Dakota) and all my grown-up friends have actual taste in movies. Alas. Onward to Netflix!

Sherlock Holmes - Um, why wasn't this advertised more?! I had no idea it was coming out today! Off to the store I go, hi-ho-hi-ho-hi-ho.

Crookedly Humorous Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Darjeeling Limited. I know the title is weird, but it really sets the tone for the entire movie. Which is: weird. It's crazy, but it's a Wes Anderson, so you have to kind of expect it (The Royal Tenenbaums, Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou). Also, Jason Schwartzman and Owen Wilson are in almost all of his movies and they're both weird actors. So, in summation, weird. Good, but weird.

Movies to see:
Sherlock Holmes and Darjeeling Limited.

Trailers of the post: Kiddie movies.

Marmaduke. You had me until the choreographed dance scene with dogs at the end. Ridiculous.

The Legend of the Guardians. A film about owls. Well, they've made movies about pretty much ever other animals. I'm surprised it took this long for "warrior owls" to make an appearance.

Name 7 Owen Wilson:
Armageddon, Behind Enemy Lines, Marley & Me, Meet the Parents, Shanghai Noon, The Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Kevin Bacon Game (not using Jennifer Aniston):
Owen Wilson was in You, Me and Dupree with Matt Dillon who was in Wild Things with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Quote Quiz #155 winner:
Molly with Never Been Kissed. I know I shouldn't have used her, but I figured when I didn't have an actor to match a trailer I would just go alphabetically. Don't worry, I won't have to use her for a very long time.

QQ #156: name this Owen Wilson movie:
"Now, in addition to the Chinese Kung Fu, we've got a little Mexican Judo, as in 'Judon't know who you messin' with, homz.'"

a. Shanghai Noon
b. Drillbit Taylor
c. Starsky and Hutch
d. Armageddon

Jessica Alba

Movies out Friday

Hot Tub Time Machine - I'll be seeing this movie simply because of the title. Also, John Cusack and the fact that it looks hilarious.

How to Train Your Dragon - Kiddie movies! Hooray! And hooray for Jay Baruchel! I like you, sir, I like you a lot.

Eh... Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Honey. No matter what, if I come across this movie on TNT I always stop and watch it. It's not even that great either. I don't get it, but it's true.

Movies to see:
Hot Tub Time Machine and How to Train Your Dragon.

Trailer of the post

Tron Legacy. I will be seeing this movie even though I haven't seen the original (yet). First it was because of Garrett Hedlund, but now it is also because of Michael Sheen! I love them both!

Meet Bill, Fantastic Four, The Eye, Awake, Love Guru, Honey, Sin City.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Jessica Alba was in Meet Bill with Logan Lerman who was in My One and Only with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

c. Never Been Kissed
d. Honey

Super Catch-up Post! (Ellen Page)

Friday the 12th Theater Releases

Green Zone - A conspiracy theory movie. Nope. Matt Damon. No thanks. Nothing good can come out of this.

Our Family Wedding - I really think I want to see this, but I'm feeling a Meet the Parents vibe...

Remember Me - You would think that of the three movies listed here, I would never wanna see this. Ironically, the reason I do want to see this is because of Robert Pattinson. I know! Who knew? I think that he may show actual acting skills. There's only one way to find out...

Tuesday the 16th DVD Releases

Armored - Eh, it looks mildly interesting. I'll just put it on my Netflix queue and wait til it sneaks up to the top and surprises me.

Astro Boy - No thanks. I'll save watching this with some small child who demands it over Finding Nemo. And as that will never happen because Nemo is the greatest movie. Ever.

Did You Hear About the Morgans? - Again, I'll put it on my queue and just let it appear when the time is right.

Ninja Assassin - Um, amazing movie!! It is badass to the extreme!! The gore and action was awesome!!

The Princess and the Frog - Most definitely going to buy this movie. Most definitely.

Friday the 19th Theater Releases

The Bounty Hunter - I'm definitely going to see this. It looks pretty hilarious.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid - This looks pretty cute and Steve Zahn is one of my favorites.

Repo Men - I cannot wait to see this movie!! It looks so cool!

Stolen - I love Josh Lucas and Jon Hamm is pretty cool. However, this looks super, super dramatic and super x 2 dramas don't always work well with me.

DVDs out tomorrow (and last Saturday)

Twilight Saga: New Moon - came out on Saturday the 20th because it thinks it is cooler than normal movies. Too bad it was just as terrible as the first and only deserves a trash bin.

The Blind Side - See? It comes out on a normal day AND it is leagues better than that vampire crap. Go see this movie. It is beyond moving. Beautiful, just beautiful.

Brothers - I heard it was really dramatic and didn't even have a good ending to save it. Alas, I had such high hopes for Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman.

Fantastic Mr Fox - Looks pretty weird.

The Men Who Stare at Goats - I want to see this a lot. It's moving to the top of my queue ahead of the movies I'm supposed to watch for homework. Haha!

All-Around Awesome Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
Smart People. This movie was funny in all of its dark and twisted hilarity. Ironically, Ellen Page was not nearly as funny as Thomas Hayden Church who completely stole the show.

Movies to see:
Our Family Wedding, Remember Me, Ninja Assassin, The Princess and the Frog, Bounty Hunter, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Repo Men, Blind Side, The Men Who Stare at Goats, and Smart People.

Trailer of the post

The Joneses. I'm liking it. I'm liking it a lot.

Name 7 Ellen Page:
Juno, Smart People, Tracy Fragments, Hard Candy, An American Crime, X-Men 3, Whip It.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Ellen Page was in Smart People with Sarah Jessica Parker who was in Footloose with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Quote Quiz #149 winner:
Katie with Boondock Saints II!! Great movie!! I need to buy it...

QQ #150-153: Match these Ellen Page movies to their quotes (you can use them more than once):

150) "I'm just gonna go ahead and nip this thing in the bud. Cuz you know, they say pregnancy often leads to, you know...infants."
151)"I'm in an after-school special."
152)"Well you're not happy. And you're my role model."
153)"Screw you and your grandmother!"

a) Smart People
b) Juno
c) Whip It!

(I figured that you all love the quizzes more than anything so I'd give you four in one! Yay!)

Clifton Collins Jr

DVDs out Tuesday

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day - Saw it. Loved it. Gonna buy it! And not just to complete my collection. It wasn't as good as the first (but then again, sequels never are), but it was still great!

The Fourth Kind - No thanks.

Old Dogs - I never got the chance to see it, but I plan on it eventually.

Planet 51 - Not going to go out of my way to see this one. It looks a little too kidsy for me, and that's saying something.

Possession - It's that movie that I wanted to see with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Lee Pace! I cannot wait to see it. Netflix ahoy!

Precious: Based on the Novel "Push" - A lot of people seem to love this movie so I guess I should get around to seeing it. Once school is over, I'm going to hibernate for three months and just watch all the great movies I missed out on.

Up in the Air - Despite all the awards and rave reviews for George Clooney, I have to say this movie was just so-so.

Underrated Awesome Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
The Last Castle. This movie is beyond awesome. One of the very few dramas I've ever seen that I've absolutely loved. Robert Redford, Mark Ruffalo and James Gandolfini were all great, but Clifton Collins Jr completely stole the show. His character was sweet and charming and he acted brilliantly.

Movies to see:
Boondock Saints II, Old Dogs, Possession, Precious, and The Last Castle.

Trailer of the post

Stolen. I love Josh Lucas. However, this looks a little too depressing. Small children being hurt is not the best movie to warm the heart.

Name 7 CCJ:
Mindhunters, Sunshine Cleaning, Star Trek, The Last Castle, Traffic, Extract, Boondock Saints II.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Clifton Collins Jr was in The Last Castle with Robert Redford who was in Spy Games with Brad Pitt who was in Sleepers with Kevin Bacon: 3 steps.

Quote Quiz #148 winner:
Katie makes a comeback with Failure to Launch!

QQ #149: name this CCJ movie:
"This ain't rocket surgery."

a. Extract
b. Sunshine Cleaning
c. The Last Castle
d. Boondock Saints II

Sarah Jessica Parker

Movies out Friday

Alice in Wonderland - Holy crap I'm excited!

Brooklyn's Finest - Who cares? Alice in Wonderland!! (But seriously, this looks like another unpredictable cop movie where you don't know who's good and who's bad. If you had to choose, I think you know which one you should...)

Sexy City Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
The Family Stone. I actually loved SJP in this movie because she was annoying and stuck-up and completely clueless. Sometimes I feel like I say stupid stuff and people get super offended over something I don't mean. And sometimes people think I'm snobby even though I'm just shy when I first meet them. And sometimes I would choose Luke Wilson over Dermot Mulroney.

Movies to see:
Alice in Wonderland and The Family Stone.

Trailers of the post: Comedy.

Sex in the City 2. Despite being completely ridiculous, I actually enjoyed the show and the first movie, so I'm definitely going to see the sequel. I suggest you get in touch with your feminine side and go too.

The City Island. I love Steven Strait. And he's shirtless in it. I'm sold.

Name 7 SJP:
Til There Was You, Sex in the City, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Family Stone, Smart People, Failure to Launch, Footloose.

Kevin Bacon Game:
SJP was in Footloose with Kevin Bacon: 1 step.

Quote Quiz #147 winner:
Kristina with In Bruges. I haven't seen this movie yet, but from that quote I know that I want to!

QQ #148: name this SJP movie:
"Shut up! Not everything you say is perfect!"

a. The Family Stone
b. Failure to Launch
c. Did you Hear About the Morgans?
d. Smart People

Colin Farrell

DVDs out Tuesday

2012 - Kind of ridiculous, but I really enjoyed the special effects, as extreme as they were.

Where the Wild Things Are - I've heard that this movie kind of butchered the book. It turned a nice little kids book into a movie about an angsty child that is depressed about various child things. Granted, I can't pass judgement until I see it, but I still say: Not cool, Hollywood. Not cool.

Drunken Irish Goodies

Underrated movie of the post:
American Outlaws. This is a great movie when it comes to silly little cowboy movies. There're hunky dudes and some pretty sweet gun fight scenes. It's worth watching at least once.

Movies to see:
2012, Where the Wild Things Are, and American Outlaws.

Trailers of the post: Weird.

Ondine. This looks extremely strange. Needless to say, I want to see it.

Heartless. I love Jim Sturgess and I love crazy weird movies.

Name 7 Colin Farrell:
SWAT, Alexander, American Outlaws, Daredevil, The New World, Minority Report, In Bruges.

Kevin Bacon Game:
Colin Farrell was in Minority Report with Tom Cruise who was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon: 2 steps.

Quote Quiz #147 winner:
Me. You snooze you lose! It was Chicken Little.

QQ #148: name this Colin Farrell movie:
"One gay beer for my gay friend, one normal beer for me because I am normal."

a. SWAT
b. Pride and Glory
c. Tigerland
d. In Bruges
